"hell I wish I was in Iraq right now, man I would ve love to be involved in this arse kicking that's a coming."

If you are still in the Arkansas National Guard, you may get your wish. You might want to download maps of Syria and Damascus.

Thanks for your service.

Israel: Hezbollah Fajr Rockets Likely Weapon

July 13, 2006 19 02 GMT

Summary

Radical Shiite Islamist movement Hezbollah likely used Fajr rockets in its July 13 attack against the Israeli city of Haifa.

Analysis

In its July 13 rocket attack against Haifa, Israel, radical Shiite Islamist movement Hezbollah likely used Fajr rockets that the group was thought -- but never proven -- to have received from Iran several years ago. In fact, rumor had it that Hezbollah had obtained both the Fajr-3 and the Fajr-5 rockets. Fajr-3 has a range of 28 miles, giving it the ability to hit Haifa from southern Lebanon.

Because many of the so-called "Katyusha" (a now-generic term) rockets used against Israel are manufactured locally and represent a number of different systems, specifications vary greatly. But Hezbollah is thought to possess 10,000 artillery rockets.

If the Israel Defense Forces, which reported the missile had been launched from Lebanon, did track the device, it would have done so with counter-battery radar, which is equipped to backtrack along the ballistic trajectory and estimate a launch location. Israel would immediatly repond to the calculated location with heavy artillery and artillery rockets.

Israeli intelligence says Hezbollah has as many as 30 Zelzal-2 rockets, a 610 mm heavy artillery rocket that can deliver a warhead of more than 1,000 pounds to a range of 130 miles, giving it the ability to hit the northern outskirts of Tel Aviv from the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Northern Israelis sheltered from continuing rockets attack
font size

Israeli residents in the northern border town of Nahariya left their homes Thursday morning to stay in underground shelters in response to the continuing Katyusha rockets attack by Lebanese militants.

Two more Katyusha barrages pummeled the Nahariya area around 10: 00. There were no immediate reports of casualties in the attack.

Nahariya Mayor Jackie Sabag said the whole town has shut down, with businesses closed. All residents were urged to comply with army orders to stay in underground shelters throughout Thursday and to pay attention to media outlets.

I think it's time to give up on this thread, its going nowhere and neither is the story.

Wherever Fox pulled this information from, they haven't been in a hurry to repeat it or publish it.

This conflict has plenty of potentional to expode and spiral out of control on its own without FNC giving it a helping hand!

I see your point as well, we should scour the net for a printed article. There, PEACE AT LAST!

Shall I believe my own lying ears, or should I listen to your naysaying?

That's up too you, but I CAN tell you what the people wearing our country's uniform are doing. Which is more important, what you believe or what the people on the knife's edge are doing?

I'll believe what I heard until it has been verified as false. Until then, I believe what I heard, which was the statement that the Haifa missile was launched by the Iranian Guard.

Whatever you do, just don't jump to conclusions....oh wait....

What makes your disbelief of what I heard any more credible than what I heard on Fox News?

For a forum that seems to criticize whatever the MSM says immediately when it's for a guy on "our" side, you seem to be more than willing to jump on the bandwagon when it blames an enemy. Nevermind the fact that it's the same people making the reports who constantly screw other things up.

If they are good journalists, they will check and double check and multiple check their sources, before running with it again. If they dare say it again on live TV, but still, here at nearly 7:00 p.m. Eastern, have nothing of it on their affiliated news websites in written form, as a flash or ticker or what not, something seriously is out of whack. I suspect they are not talking again or speculating the "Iranian Guards" side of this on CNN or Fox as of right now--but are quietly backtracking?

"Mark stated on his radio show that Sean was the first to report or break the story today; that it was being reported over the Israeli airwaves that the Iranian Guard positioned in Lebanon fired the missile that hit Haifa."

If this thread is wrong, we can blame it on Sean and downgrade him to just an average American.

RDTF I don't believe it. Reminds me of the Cuban Crisis. Calm heads will prevail

Big diff! Russians didn't want to die any more than we did. With the islamos, it makes their day.

Those who took the initial rumor as fact, however, will be more and more embarassed as time passes.

Which is not to say that it's a disservice to post a report that accurately characterizes what was said and by whom.
