(Israel) Government okays massive strikes on Lebanon
By Amos Harel, Aluf Benn and Gideon Alon, Haaretz Correspondents and Agencies (snip)
The Israel Defense Forces began preparing Wednesday night for a widespread aerial assault on Lebanon, after the cabinet approved a "severe" response to Hezbollah's attack on the northern border on Wednesday, which ended with eight soldiers dead and two kidnapped. . .
The response will include a series of aerial attacks against Hezbollah, and particularly against the batteries of rockets aimed at Israel that the organization has stationed along the northern border. . .
. . . Hezbollah is likely to respond to the Israeli attacks with massive rocket launches at Israel, and in that case, the IDF might move ground forces into Lebanon, both to create a temporary buffer zone in the southern part of the country and to destroy Hezbollah's network of outposts and rockets along the border. The goal of any such operation would also be to ensure that this network could not be rebuilt.
Residents of northern border communities have already been ordered into shelters, and Defense Minister Amir Peretz ordered the Home Front Command to prepare for the defense of dozens of other communities that were not vulnerable to Hezbollah fire in the past, but are now reachable with the long-range rockets Hezbollah has deployed in recent years.
"We may be facing a completely different reality, in which hundreds of thousands of Israelis will, for a short time, find themselves in danger from Hezbollah's rockets," said a senior defense official. These include residents of the center of the country.
The army also began preparing for a limited call-up of the reserves, since this might be necessary if a ground operation in Lebanon is approved. Thus far, however, no call-up has been approved. . .

I sure hope the NYT gets on the stick and reveals the precise times of the bombings, the targets, and payloads. Their readers (i.e. the thugs of the world) have a right to know.
FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
Nice flag ;o)
more talk? ggeeeezzz....in a war on talk they'd win.

Well I am sure they will provide preferential treatment to the U.N. first, by letting them know, and then announce it to the rest of the world to know --- just beyond comprehension. The enemy within.
Beautiful...
I'll bet even money it becomes an internet rage!
Semper Fi
I wonder if the IDF will be buying off any generals on their way to the capital?
I assume this says "Don't Tread On Me"
I hope Israel neuters it's enemies and realizes that appeasement has brought them this current mess. I hate to say it, but I hope that Hotter Heads prevail.
Apparently the nation of Israel is about to take off the gloves. It should be remembered that the United States has pretty much shared all its military technology with Israel and Israel will not be afraid to use it. The Arab world is in for some serious hurting.
Yikes. This could get even uglier.
Cool flag.
And what is the Brazilian doing there? LOL...
Is it just me, or do Israeli strikes seem to be getting closer and closer to Syria and Iran? Hmmm?
IMHO Israel has nothing to lose, and is taking as much care as reasonably possible to avoid killing non-combatants. I say don't stop till until the IDF gets to Iran's nukes and Syria's terror bosses (who also probably have Saddam's WMDs).
I was going to suggest (a bit sarcastically) it may be time to pray for Israel's enemies. They have no idea Who it is they are fighting against.
Maybe they will take it all the way to Syria.
So I ask you this -- When do you think they'll take the 20 minutes to wipe out Syria seeing how they're involved here, too?
"This could get even uglier."
It is inevitable now. They've publicly called the shot. Now Hezbollah knows they are going for the missiles, so it will be more "use it or lose it" than before.
I would be prepared for the possibility of some of those rockets being non-conventional.
Should take them out first.
