It made some large coin for Der Bingle.

It would be of interest to hear from some who may have some experience with this via an Uncle, Father or other friend or relative.

I knew one man who was a WWII POW in Germany. He said that the Germans supplied some fairly advance math textbooks to them, as language is not so problematic with Math. Many of the POW's were pilots or navigators, so they took the books and taught classes on Math to those who were interested. He came out with a very high level of math knowledge during his time spent there.

He also commented that their food was no worse then the 'crap that the krauts ate', to quote him verbatim. All in all I never heard him complain of poor treatment, but then he did not discuss this aspect of his life very much.

For G-d's sake.

I mean, can we reach back to a show discontinued 40 years ago, and maybe in syndication another 10 years after that?

30-40 years is too long to wait before criticizing a show.

I've always thought the show had a revolting premise.

This is stupid. No one believes Hogan's Heros reflects reality any more than one believes what happens in road runner cartoons. They are both good for laughs and there is nothing wrong with laughing.

What do you mean "could have a fair point?" It was a TV show for heaven's sakes.

That would be like saying the Texas oil economy crashed due to Ewing Oil's foreign ventures.

My next door neighbor was shot down over Germany during WW2 and spent 2 years as a POW. When he jumped from his plane he was hit in both of his legs. He would take that shrapnel in his legs with him to his death in 1998.

When he spoke of Hogan's Hero's he would laugh and say, they don't have any idea.

The author should have talked to Mel Brooks before writing this. He said the best way he found to fight the horror of naziism was by laughing at them.

Of course, the real story was that Bob Kane/Colonel Hogan ENJOYED being in a prisoner of war camp, as he LOVED getting "tortured" by Klink and Schultz. I believe they even took films of their "interrogations" for their amusement.

When I was a kid once in a while I would tune into this show since it was about WWII. My Dad hated that show, and would say this show does not tell the truth of how our POWs were treated by the Germans.

(Australian) Veterans' Affairs Minister Bruce Billson said that thanks to Hollywood, those in German and Italian prison camps in World War II were wrongly perceived by many as having had a fairly easy time.

I find it hard to believe anyone of normal intelligence would think that show was a realistic depiction of what life was like in prisoner of war camps during WWII. People of normal intelligence would also know that how we treat prisoners at Gitmo is WAY better than our soldiers are or have ever been treated.

Of course, liberals are NOT of normal intelligence. LOL

Oh for Pete's sake. We KNOW it was a TV SHOW. Get over yourself already.

BTW, I'm still waiting for somebody to complain about how I Dream of Jeannie portrayed Middle Eastern women (who happened to be blonde) as naive bubbleheads.
