We waited 5 years for him to veto republican bills that could have been attached to virtually any other piece of legislation like all the rest of the spending???

I understand the veto but ...

Great. More pointless summer positioning over stem-cell research, just in time for September.

No matter what you think about stem cell research, the government should not be subsidizing it.

Didn't think I'd ever President Bush and veto mentioned in the same sentence by somebody not making a joke.

Hooray!

It only took him 5 years to veto a liberal piece of legislation despite a target rich environment. Hmmm...

This is pretty simple really.

Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs) hold little or no potential for long term treatment or cure of anything.

Adult Stem Cells have 70 patents on proven and high potential treatment and cures.

IF ESC held any promise there would be no need for federal funding of research. The private sector would be flooding the market with investments.

The push for federal funding for ESC research is ALL about pretending there is a benefit to abortion.

Good for him.

I agree. If this is so promising, they are free to get private funding.

Have any ESCR advocates explained from where these embryos are coming? Scientists don't have the experimentation rights for the IVF "leftovers" on ice. Egg donors get more money from IVF donation, and the egg donation process itself is risky, time-consuming, and expensive.
