The same thing happened to Stephen Solarz. He was a nine term incumbent, but when the ethinic composition of his district changed, he was defeated in the primaries. That's the way it works in Dem politics. It is the reason why we have a Black Caucus and the districts are gerrymandered to get results based on race.

This situation highlights another political imponderable. Blacks by and large despise Jews, and yet liberal American Jews remain their most ardent supporters. They will suffer every insult, slur and desecration heaped upon them by Jesse, Al, Louis et al, and come back begging for more.
