It ain't over until we get "Us out of the UN and the UN out of the U.S."
Who is she kidding? Gun control led to the deaths of millions during the 20th century.
Glad they can't get the ball rolling on this. The UN is evil and terribly inefficient.
What about Kyoto?
The meeting failed because so many countries (France) want a UN tax on handgun manufacturing (US manufacturers that is) versus actually controlling illicit small arms sales (AK-47s and RPGs) which are the weapons that are truly causing harm in the world.
And if you're a government bureaucrat it's all that really matters ...
That's just standard operating procedure for the UN. "Hey, look, outside our safe UN camp, there are locals being beaten and raped. Good thing those guerrillas aren't inside doing that to us. Anyway, are the cameras set up for our native-child porn shoot?"
. . . that's how this sort of headline generally reads . . .
"Seldom have diplomats worked so hard for so few results. They've squandered an opportunity to save thousands of lives."
CORRECTION: They've squandered an opportunity to take guns away from law abiding citizens while doing nothing to take guns out of the hands of the bad guys..
Listen real good Canada I am not a USER of firearms I am an OWNER. Understand the difference and remember it.
"...Seldom have diplomats worked so hard for so few results..."
That should be on a giant , engraved bronze sign on the entrance to the UN
"The conference was held behind closed doors, and diplomats refused to speak to the media."
Asa gun owner and TAXPAYER I demand that these overpain beaurocrats open these meetings to the public. I want to know how my dollars are spent.
As for the failure of this meeting... I'm hard pressed to think of anything I would qualify as a UN success.
Oh, you mean like the gazillion other 'voluntary' programs that wind their way down to every municipality in the country and become local laws and statutes?
NGO's -- just doing the work that true Americans refuse to do.
After the meeting, exhausted delegates, many of them looking dejected, strolled through the corridors puzzling over why the meeting went so wrong.
Perhaps its that the UN doesn't have the right to impose its ideas on sovereign nations?
"The U.S. opposed a further UN review meeting."
Good.
The US delegation probably should have worked harder so the meeting would have 'results'. In 1-2 months, ask congress to ratify the results. Those who vote for ratification can be thrown out of the US Congress.
Love that visual.
"Seldom have diplomats worked so hard for so few results. They've squandered an opportunity to save thousands of lives."
We've seen how many lives are saved when only the governments have guns.
THE UN IS STACKED WITH COMPLETE ***MORONS*** EXCEPT FOR JOHN BOLTON...
