In yet another document captured by the Coalition from the files of the IIS, we have yet another piece of evidence that Saddam Hussein continued his pursuit of WMD. In document BIAP-2003-004552.pdf, we have a short memorandum announcing a transfer to a biological weapons program:

Serious stuff. As we saw in 2001, weaponized anthrax is extremely lethal and highly disruptive to urban civilization.
Which reminds me. The Anthrax scare of 2001-2002 remains an unsolved mystery. What gives???
I always thought Saddam was behind the anthrax attacks. They were one of the few countries that had anthrax that was aerolicized (sp?), as I recall.

The U.N.'s former top bioweapons inspector in Iraq, Richard O. Spertzel, has told Congress about reports of a "cryptic September article in a newspaper run by Saddam's son, Uday" which promised that a "virus" would soon attack "the raven," apparently a Baath party curseword for America. Spertzel has also told Congress that Iraq has conducted military exercises simulating the dispersal of anthrax spores from crop-dusting aircraft--a subject in which both Mohamed Atta and Zacarias Moussaoui, the alleged "twentieth hijacker," are known to have expressed intense interest. Last June, one of Atta's September 11 confederates, Ahmed Ibrahim Al Haznawi, walked into a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, emergency room with a painless but inflamed one-inch black lesion on his lower left leg. In retrospect, Al Haznawi's attending physician, Dr. Christos Tsonas, is convinced that the wound was cutaneous anthrax. The Department of Health and Human Services' top bioterrorism expert agrees, as do two leading researchers at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Civilian Biodefense Strategies.

John Murtha says so.
Perhaps the answer lies right here in the Fertile Crescent.
Its a very very strange mystery as well. All the false readings and rumors. One day it is weaponized, next day it is baby powder, next day it is plain old everyday anthrax.
Thanks for ping. Time and investigative resolve is showing the creep and his goons where so tied up in all forms of wmd to be used locally and abroad only those with their heads in the sand would say otherwise.
Is it just me or are the efforts to expose Saddam's regime for what it was gaining momentum?
What happened was that our government made a bad assumption based on a logical fallacy, and thereby wasted a lot of time and energy investigating dead-end leads that will never lead anywhere.
Also, raw partisan politics unfortunately came into play because of some of the targets, which led to a man being falsely accused of being a mass murderer, which is going to end up costing we the taxpayers millions of dollars (though he certainly deserves to be compensated for having his life ruined).
