GLOVER, SHARPTON JOIN SHEEHAN HUNGER STRIKE: They will take turns fasting (FOR ONE DAY)

*With the White House as her backdrop Tuesday, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan ate her last meal at midnight and begin a hunger strike designed to call attention to her efforts to bring home U.S. troops fighting in Iraq.

Danny Glover, Rev. Al Sharpton and Susan Sarandon are among the celebrities joining Sheehan for the nationwide effort, dubbed “Troops Home Fast.” So far, more than 3,000 people from the U.S. and 18 other countries have signed up to join the “rolling fast,” meaning they’ll be giving up food on designated days and encourage others to fast with them on those days.

"Everything we do is to get the troops to come home," Sheehan told People magazine. "We want to show the world that there are Americans who are committed to peace. Fasting is such a time-honored way of protest."

Sean Penn and Willie Nelson have also joined the effort launched by Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004. The activist will remain on a diet of water, teas and juices until Sept. 1, International Peace Day.

Sean Penn and Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson, now there's a real moral barometer. Doesn't he have about 500 kids that he doesn't take care of? Pwah.

I really wish Willie would stick to singing. Oh well, he will probably get the munchies round bout 10 tonight.

Put out a news release!

Every night thousands of Freepers are going on a seven hour fast. Only at dawn will we break this fast.

This is being done to show support for America, President Bush and his leadership in Iraq and in support of American troops around the world, and last, but not least, to highlight how stupid the liberals "rolling fast" is.

For me, Cindy is missing an opportunity. There really is no reason to share the glory with all these other wannabe's. Cindy should just bask in the glory of herself and do a ten year hunger strike. Nothing to eat ever. That would be much more effective.

I thought I heard Rush say they fast eight hours and then turn it over to someone else.

Boy, a day... they're going to really suffer.

Soldiers give untold sacrifice, sometimes including their lives (Cindy, Remember your son?). And this is the best that these useless goons can muster?

Remind me why anyone might take any of these people seriously.

These people might as well say they are wiping their ass with their left hand in protest against the war... or maybe only using two ply as opposed to three ply. Yes, this is very serious stuff so don't kid yourselves!

I'm on a mini-fast, I haven't eaten anything since 5:30pm.

Okay, you can eat now. I'll take over for you.

Anybody wanna pick it up from me in a couple hours?

Does that mean several hundred million aren't fasting?

So I had a protein bar for lunch. Left work late and then went to the gym. I accidentally joined their "rolling fast". What a bunch of pant loads.

I say we start a beer fast. Drink all you can in 2 hrs and speak your mind all you want about the pinkos and shenanigan.

Anyone can starve themselves for a day.
