I have a question as I see all the events surround Lieberman and the likelyhood that Joe may run as independent. If Joe does run as an Independent, and assuming he wins...who does Joe caucus with? With Dems or Republicans? Anyone has any ideas? If Joe is forced to run as an Independent he certainly does not have alligience to the Dems...
Connecticut ping!
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
The Republican running against Lieberman is a "moderate".
In other words, he's pro-abortion.
I don't vote for pro-abortion Republicans, unless the alternative is an anti-war Democrat kook. So, when I vote for Christopher Shays, it will be solely because he supports the war while is opponent, Diane Farrell, is actually a very talented lady as capable as Shays...but she is against the war. So I vote for Shays.
But if it's Lieberman versus some pro-abortion Republican, I have no incentive to get out there and vote for either. If it's Lieberman versus some anti-war nutjob, obviously I have to support Lieberman. However, Connecticut primaries are closed, so Republicans and Independents don't get to vote in the Democratic primary.
The difference between a Republican and a Democrat is the Democrat is a cannibal--they have to live off each other--while the Republicans, why, they live off the Democrats." -- Will Rogers
Because he is pro-life, he really believes in God, and he's a practicing Jew?
No brainer.
Lieberman is the democrats John Mclaim..
No matter who or what the subject is, watching a group cannibalize their own is always unsettling.
Is this the man Dims once called the "conscience of the Senate"? I guess now they all want to clear their conscience. LOL.
Joe is a liberal, for Pete's sake. His ratings show that and in 2000 he abandoned his alleged social conservatism in a New York minute to get on the ticket.
What this is all about is the moonbat base. The Kossacks and MoveOns are convinced the reason they lost in 2000, 2002 and 2004 is that they weren't liberal enough. They reject Clintonian DLC-type "moderation" which Dims thought was the answer to stop losing elections until recently. The moonbats are on jihad against anyone who won't bow to them.
Joe is DLC. Joe supports the Prez in the WOT. And maybe even worse, he voted for cloture on Alito. Doesn't matter that he voted against Alito, he voted for cloture. Northeastern liberals are spitting mad at anyone who would imperil their right to slaughter babies right up to the moment of birth.
Why are fellow Senators distancing from Joe? First, they see they better not cross the moonbats or they might become a target. Second, there's nothing Joe can do for them - he showed in 2004 he has no national base in the party. Third, he looks vulnerable, so they're hedging their bets. Politics is a nasty business.
Why is the MSM all over this? It's a two-fer. It's a great story - the public loves a good bloodsport. And, they get to blast Bush implicitly by showing one of his supporters on the WOT in trouble.
Don't forget "Holy Joe" also burned some bridges with the hedonistic Left by denoucing Hollywood values.
Were it the GOP turning on Lieberman, there would be cries from the media both of the party being "run by extremists" and hints of anti-Semitism.
Poor Joe. Seems the "cut and run" strategy of his party doesn't apply solely to Iraq.
God deliver us from leftists. We are doomed if they take power.
Gore gave reporters some malarkey about his personal policy of not endorsing candidates, but it wasn't that long ago that he threw his weight behind Howard Dean with a surprising endorsement prior to the media circus "Dean Machine" collapsing. When Lieberman ran and lost as Gore's candidate for Vice President, not once did Lieberman accuse anyone of stealing the election.Nice reminder that Lieberman's main use for the Dhimmicrats was as an alibi. It appears that they are making their move now, because they no longer feel they need one. Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye.
