Penn, Sarandon Unite for Hunger Strike
July 5, 2006
SEAN PENN, SUSAN SARANDON and WILLIE NELSON are just some of the big names who will be lending their support to anti-war activist CINDY SHEEHAN's hunger strike.
Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed while serving in Iraq, began her "Troops Home Fast" protest outside the White House on Independence Day. Her plan is to abstain from eating and consume only water and juices throughout the summer.
Penn, Sarandon and Nelson, meanwhile, will participate in a "rolling fast" along with actor DANNY GLOVER, author ALICE WALKER and nearly 3,000 activists nationwide. The concept involves each participant to refuse food for 24 hours on designated days and then pass the fast over to the next individual.
As for Sheehan, she will reportedly move her fast in August to Crawford, Texas, and camp outside President GEORGE BUSH's ranch, much like she did last summer during her initial protest against the war in Iraq.
Let's hope they're successful.
I hope Willie brings some of his Hippy Lettuce. .....they'll all be tortured.
Try my papaya/mango milkshake!
I'll take the last fifteen minutes of next Tuesday.
Ok, I'll fast from 3:10 to 3:22 on Friday
hoot!
Oh, Wille, you do test my patience
You know, somehow, Hollywood actors going without food still doesn't make me want to surrender to terrorism.
Sounds rough.
I like the suggestion made on another thread: Let's set up a pizza party across the street and eat in front of them.
Alec Baldwin could stand to lose some weight.
Well, for some of them it would probably have to be a tofu party or something.
I tell you, sionnsar, you just can't make this stuff up.
It would have to be submitted to any publisher as fiction : )

Yeah, the 5th Tuesday of every month!
No doubt this will cause President Bush to exclaim, "Oh my gosh, Sarandon, Nelson, Penn and Sheehan are on a hunger strike. Bring the troops home from Iraq NOW!"

"What the heck is a 'rolling fast?' You call that a protest? Look at me. Try a real hunger strike at my weight. Now that is a protest."
Wow, a "rolling" fast.
They can't even muster up a real fast. What sissies!
I'm sure he's quivering.
Most people in Hollywood starve themselves anyway, so how is this going to be any different?
