Mullen: Helen turns gun sights on D.C. press [Helen Thomas Barf Alert]
Salt Lake Tribune ^ | July 4, 2006 | Holly Mullen

In the best chapter of all, titled "Lapdogs of the Press," Thomas excoriates what she describes as "the obsequious press during the run-up to the invasion of Iraq." She believes, and has often explained to a public, which has grown increasingly skeptical of reporters' failures to truly "watchdog" the president, that journalists were seriously "subdued" by the political climate immediately after 9/11. "[Reporters] forgot their credo that an eternal spotlight on public officials was the best way to keep them honest," Thomas writes. "In the long run-up to the Iraq War, reporters were bombarded with misleading information and 'spin' from the government, which was played in the press as gospel." Stories exposing torture of Iraqi prisoners, human rights violations at Guantanamo Bay and wiretapping of ordinary Americans at last made their way into the media. But why, she questions, did it take so long? The woman in the red suit finds little empathy for a lazy press, and in her indomitable style, she has let us have it. That's one way to show patriotism.

Revolting love-letter from one leftist moron to another. Very revealing of the insipid ranting of lib bozos when they think they are talking only to each other. There's not even a hint of thinking in this tripe, no analysis of how little Helen Thomas knows about anything, or of how her turgid rants are the shame of the White House Press Corps (which has plenty to be ashamed about, but not what Holly Mullen and Helen Thomas think is wrong there). I found this column entertaining, though -- Holly Mullen is truly one of the most vapid and vacuous libs I know.

I sent Holly an e-mail hoping that Helen at least sent her flowers before Holly, well, let's say, lavished all that love on her. Ugh. Please. No pictures of Helen.

"[Reporters] forgot their credo that an eternal spotlight on public officials was the best way to keep them honest..."

I think she has "eternal spotlight" confused with "deliberate treasonous undermining of the United States of America".

Reporting? Is she nuts? (Yes) These MSM jokers create stuff or take one loony story, copy it amongst themselves without getting off of their duffs to confirm it, then cry "fake but accurate". Reporting?

There is just so much wrong with this that I don't even know where to start.

But I say keep it coming. Eventually the hard reality of economics will hit these bird cage liners and they'll shut down. The internet is killing the old media because of people like this, IMO.

They don't know any 'famous' reporters.
