Thank you!
My daughter and family live in Canada - he's a U.S. Navy pilot on loan to your RCAF at Greenwood.
I get such a kick out of hearing my 3 little granddaughters, all in school there, sing "Oh Canada..."
I've only been thru Ontario and visited Nova Scotia and PEI - LOVE IT THERE.
And we will NEVER forget how generously you jumped in and helped us after 9/11.
And we LOVE your new PM!
"Oh Canada..." ;o)

Stephen Harper is such a cutie...I just love a man with a wry sense of humour!

Thank you for your kind words.
Re: "Stephen Harper is such a cutie...I just love a man with a wry sense of humour!"
Even most Canadians don't hear the half of it.
Thanks to our - even worse than yours both in bias & laziness - msm, Harper's daily Parliamentary Question Period verbal triumphs get little publicity.
One red after another gets their a$$ literally handed back to them when they challenge him.
No one since the vile Trudeau (and him only on his 'good' days!) has exhibited such total control of the House of Commons.
Plus, when it comes to setting up & then destroying the reds in a general sense, Stephen is far closer to Karl Rove than he is to George W.
Also, while your President & our new PM were both influenced by Ronald Reagan & Lady Thatcher in their formative years, we're hoping that, at over a decade younger, maybe Harper was thus shaped a bit more so.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY to all of our American FRiends
To: All
I wanted to add my best wishes to my FRiends 'south of the border' in the good 'ole U.S.A. Can't wait to visit your great country again! One of my favorite memories is being in Washington D.C. on the 4th of July, 1984. What a party!

THANK YOU!!! And a belated happy Canada Day to you! I enjoyed the heck out of hearing our two anthems side by side during the Stanley Cup playoffs -- I teared up at both of them. God bless our two countries.

And, I had to contribute my favorite lyrics:
America (My Country, 'Tis of Thee)
My country,' tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims' pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our fathers' God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

Now that Harper is in office I feel so so much better about our two countries and the ties that always have bound them together. Thank you, Canadian neighbours (I'm reciprocating on the spelling of this) for your good wishes on our special holiday. It's much appreciated.

Love the lyrics ... if only it wasn't sung to the same tune as 'God save the Queen/King'.
Suppose it's one of those 'mixed emotions' things akin to there being a couple of beautiful traditional Anglican Hymns which, for some strange reason, unfortunately share the same musical score with 'Deutschland Über Alles'.

And let's not forget that in late 1979, the Canadian embassy in Tehran (at great risk to their own lives) was able to smuggle out many Americans diplomats from our embassy there, before the Iranians held our diplomats hostage for over one year.THANK YOU CANADA!

Happy Independence Day!
Here are some links to a couple of good sites about NA and our shared histories during the War of 1812.
http://www.warof1812.net/
Also,
http://library.thinkquest.org/22916/index.html
There are some links to some sound files with the 1812 Overture too.
I will try to catch the Boston Pops Orchestra on TV tonight when they end the concert with The 1812 Overture featuring real cannons and ringing all the church bells and then blow off the fireworks over the water.
I hope all Canadian Freepers had a great long weekend and lots of summertime fun celebrating Canada Day.

Here is another free site that has some pretty good patriotic songs like Grand Old Flag, Stars and Stripes and Battle Hymn. It is like having a parade in my office! :0)
