I resent that! I was no. 20 and offered to help! It looked like a trick question from someone who had been here since 2003. Who made you the posting police for this thread anyway?

It is not like we gave him a SuperAtomicWedgie, pantsed him, and left him in the public square. Good natured ribbing keeps the sense of humor sharp. You never been on a snipe hunt? Sheesh.

Since you asked, the answer is a firm "yes".

Although Free Republic is mostly a news site, the emphasis is on politics.

A necessary prerequisite to winning in the political arena is acerbic wit.

It is not used often enough in my opinion, and every once in a while, a poster presents us with an opportunity to exercise it.

Carry on.

Since I was one of the 20 posters who you are calling rude names I will respond. The person asking the question has been here 3 years and surely the question was not asked in a serious manner but rather as an excuse to start a thread that all could have fun with.

I think you are taking things a little too seriously and you need to lighten up. After all tomorrow is the day we are going to be hit by the asteroid and life as we know it will be over.

Everyone, carry on, back to making jokes and having fun, it is our last chance.

One of the best assets of this site is that it teaches us ALL to think before we post—and that especially applies to vanities.

Since experience is the best teacher, many of us have to go through this hazing ritual. Sometimes it happens in-thread and other times it gets a thread all it's own.

The result is that you learn to do your own research into the matter, freepmail a trusted fellow freeper so as to not embarrass yourself publicly, or do it again causing yourself to wonder how you forgot the last time you did something stupid.

Don't take it so hard. Stand back and observe for a while (I actually lurked for seven years before I jumped in) and you learn a lot about the personal politics of the site. That said, it doesn't prevent me from doing stupid things now and again...and having to stand up and take the consequences like an adult.

I'm sure that maineman will be just fine.

Better than a quarter of them are on the donor rolls with atleast one Dollar-A-Day freeper. I guess we should kick them out.

Didn't see your name in the "money-where-your-mouth-is" column, hoss.

You're mighty quick to denigrate your fellow FReepers, who are having a little fun. May I remind you of something that is on the home page of FR, posted by Jim Robinson, the founder of FR:

Welcome to Free Republic! Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

Please note, it was FReeper theophilusscribe who provided an answer on post #15 with a link to the Fifth Edition of the Lexicon of FreeRepublic * * A helpful FR dictionary for newcomers * *

So, lessons to be learned by you; 1) let fellow FReepers have fun, especially when no harm can come from it, and 2) if you are going to trash a group of people, at least be accurate.

Happy Birthday USA!
