" 6 of us in the hood will vote for him. (Arnold)"

===

You never know how important those 6 votes may be.

Don't get discouraged, just be sure to vote.

I know one person in San Francisco who will also vote Arnold.

Based on his record the past three years, tell us how so.

Since you are from the Sacramento area, home of the thousands of government workers, you should have a clue.

This is the most ridiculous statement of the CA elections. They are polar opposites -- even Angelides is running as "anti-Arnold"

Arnold is a liberal, Angelides is a liberal.

Arnold is opposed to reducing state spending, Angelides is opposed to reducing state spending.

Arnold has appointed many Democrat judges, Angelides will appoint many Democrat judges.

Arnold thinks abortion is just dandy, Angelides thinks abortion is just dandy.

Arnold thinks sodomy is just another lifestyle, Angelides thinks sodomy is just another lifestyle

Arnold has a former high-level Democrat party hack as his chief of staff. Angelides will likely appoint a Democrat party hack as his chief of staff.

Arnold subscribes to the environmentalist whacko agenda. Angelides subscribes to the environmentalist whacko agenda.

Arnold has refused to endorse the Republican nominee for US Senate. Angelides will likewise refuse to endorse the Republican nominee for US Senate.

Shall I go on? Or perhaps calcowgirls and SierraWasp would like to take over (It's getting late and I have a busy weekend ahead of me.)

Please state in plain English, ARE YOU SUPPORTING ANGELIDES?

It sure seems like it.

Not to mention, that your trying to create an equivalence between Arnold and Angelides is flat out wrong, as I pointed out many times.

How many Republican judges do you think Angelides will apoint?

Arnold did not raise taxes, Angelides wants to raise taxes.

Arnold vetoed homosexual marriage and drivers licenses for illegals, while Angelides is FOR that and will sign the bills the Dem Legislature will pass again.

Arnold is making CA business friendly, while Angelides would chase away business with regulations and taxes.

Arnold tried to control spending, by his Prop. 76, which the VOTERS defeated. Why aren't you blaming the voters?

You sound like someone who keep insisting that CA has an arctic climate and thinks, that if you repeat it often enough people will believe it, when, in fact, all they have to do is look out their window to see that it's not true.

You will have to forgive him. He lives in Sacramento and the only news he hears is what the unions tell him.

>> Since there are only TWO choices: Arnold or Angelides, if you don't consider Arnold leading in the poll GOOD NEWS, I guess you must be an Angelides supporter. <<

There are only two choices to pick from? Have you checked with the CA state board of elections about that? I believe the follow people are candidates governor with ballot access in November:

Arnold Schwarzenegger (R)
Phil Angelides (D)
Ed Noonan (AIP)
Peter Camejo (GR)
Art Olivier (LP)
Janice Jordan (PFP)

"Your points about Arnold are well taken."

Thanks, I thought they may seem a little trivial.

I believe in the value of advertising and image, and I think until we get another Reagan as Governor in California, we could do worse than having Arnold as our "Face" here in this particular market.

The next governor will be Arnold or Angelides.

The others have the snowball's chance in that very hot place, to get elected.

A conservative voting for third party is a vote FOR Angelides.

No matter how many silly posts people post, the bottom line is still that the next governor will be Arnold or Angelides.

ANYONE HELPING ANGELIDES TO GET ELECTED (by calling for Arnold's defeat, voting third party, staying home, etc.) IS NO CONSERVATIVE.

Case Closed.

You are quite right. I don't care much for Arnold, but there are two things, at least, that can be said for him:

One, he is pro-business, though not necessarily pro-taxpayer. Two, as you say, he improves the GOP's image among certain kinds of voters. Concretely, he makes people like McClintock and Poochigian slightly more electable -- for the offices they're running for now (lt. gov. and attorney general) and eventually, I hope for even higher office.

Hey, you're on a roll! I can only add:

Arnold borrows and raises fees; Angelides will raise taxes instead.
Everyone knows that taking on huge debt and future tax increases is better than raising taxes now
(which Angelides would be hard pressed to get past united Republican legislators).

Better than Bustamante!!!

>>>>Arnold is a liberal, Angelides is a liberal.

Right. And NO conservative in his or her right mind should ever consider casting a vote for a liberal from any political party. If certain Republican Californians decide they will support and vote for Ahnold Schwarzy, fine. Just don't call yourselves, political conservatives. That is a fallacy.

All Americans should vote. Staying home on election day solves nothing. If the choice is between two liberal candidates, one Republican, one Democrat, the conservative should cast their vote for the best alternative third party candidate available. Principles do matter and conservative principles matter most. The best way to undermine conservatism, is to vote for a liberal. Conservatives should never vote for a candidate that advances liberalism. NEVER!

I think the reason it is easy for me to accept his moderation ( I've never seen a candidate conservative enough for me), is that I respect him as a man, and I believe he is truly a Republican, I believe his differences with conservatives are to be fought under the umbrella of Republican, this isn't a guy that just grabbed a party and ran with it.

He is a loyal, legitimate Republican and I think if McClintock were here he would explain a lot to us about working with honest, dedicated members of his party that disagree with him on many issues.

I want to win elections, keep the left from power, when we can take big chunks we should grab with both hands, but when we can only grab a biscuit , grab it and plan the next step forward.

I would like to see the conservative movement become a Borg like machine, always moving forward in some degree.

By the way the anti Arnolds do remember he can't become President don't they, whereas his assistance may move McClintock into California politics in a way we have dreamed about for years.

Schwarzenneger will get it. Angelides can't help himself: He's bound to stick his face or foot in it before this election is done. It's like, in his ideological make-up. It has to happen. He'll get so desparate, his emotionalbased reactionary modus parry, will stick his own foot.

Schwarzenegger would still be ahead or by more if he had held to conservative principles.

Keep telling yourself that.
