The Migrant Workers of Park Ridge
CNN reports on a speech by New York's junior senator:
Appearing before a religious conference earlier this week, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-New York) told the audience that as a child attending Sunday school she would baby-sit the children of migrant workers so that their older siblings could join their parents at work.
"I was fortunate that at an early age, through my church, I was given the opportunity to expand my horizons," Clinton told the 600 adults and teenagers attending the Sojourners "Covenant for a New America" conference.
Mrs. Clinton grew up in Park Ridge, Ill., a tony Chicago suburb that as of 2000, according to census data, was 95.4% white, had a median family income of $87,795, and had a grand total of 174 families (1.7%) below the poverty level. How many migrant workers could there have been for her to baby-sit for?
perhaps this is what you recall..
What beats all, however, was an anecdote Schippers told the crowd that he stated he'd never before made public. It seems that after his declarations before the judiciary committee, he was prepared to start packing his bags, and leave D.C. One day, Henry Hyde called him and told him there was aCatholic Priest who wanted to meet with Schippers. Schippers, a Catholic, met with the priest from Ohio. The priest informed Schippers that he must remain in Washington, and "stay the course." The priest, it turns out, was an exorcist, had recently performed an exorcism, and stated that he saw the same evil in ,"those eyes." Schippers, somewhat incredulously stated that he knew Clinton was a bad guy, but c'mon! Did this priest think the president had made a pact with the devil? The priest stated, "not his...hers..."

According to some posts on another list, a biography of her acknowledges that Hillary actually did this as part of a sort of noblesse oblige program run by a minister to get middle class white kids attuned to the less fortunate. The Olson biog is the one cited. I don;t have a copy of the book to check it.
-Hillary Clinton- archives, comments, and opposition research --
Hillary wrote the song "Patches" about her childhood but she thought nobody would take it seriously unless it was made to be about a young black boy so she gave the song to Clarence Carter.
Patches, I'm dependin' on you son
to pull the family thru'
my son, it's all left up to you
Expect some old photos of her in a coon skin cap to show up any time now.
