CHICAGO, June 30 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen, fined for using a gay slur against a columnist, says he'll spend an off-day at the Gay Games on July 17. He also plans to attend sensitivity training sessions soon, the Chicago Sun- Times reported.
Guillen said he had already planned to attend the Gay Games, and his visit is not related to the trouble he got into with Major League Baseball for calling Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti a "fag" during a locker room interview.
Guillen has apologized.
Like that's news?
LOL! One of my favorite scenes!
Mary: Isn't that a little...politically incorrect?
Pat: Yeah, maybe, but hell, no one's gonna tell me who I can and can't work with.
I'll make you a little wager. If the Sox sweep the Cubs, Dusty is history....
Sox are beating the Cubs. I see Dusty gone if their swept.
As a Cub fan, you should realize "I will attend the Gay Games" was really a reference to this weekend's series.
Nice start, by the way....
...and according to some, History is Dusty!
Hehehehe! Everybody in Minnesota says that the White Sox suck, but we never meant it literally!
Go Cubs!
LOL!
Thanks for the gut chuckle. My abs can use the workout.
I gotta watch that movie again...
The Cubs went... :)
"He also plans to attend sensitivity training sessions soon"
sorry to hear that, I had hoped he would refuse. Mariotti needs the sessions. But I suppose the Sox management and or Selig would have done something to him. phooey.
I don' thin' so....
It's not just the on the job managing.. it's the attitude of the ball players. Except for a few, the team in general doesn't play the game right. The contrast between them and the Sox is like night and day...
If sox win today...it will be as ta lumbago... for Dusty..
Maybe. I think the Cubs should do what the Sox did. They should fire everyone from the top down. Then, go hire former Cub players to GM, manage, and Coach. They need to show loyalty to former Cub players hungry to win and bring some continuity to the team. If the BoSox, Dodgers and Tigers can do it, so can the Cubs.
Detroit is for real.. and I agree with you..
Someone like Steve Stone perhaps?
Maybe Stone, but ownership should look accross the Majors at former Cub players and stars that are on their way up the coaching ladder and talk them into "coming home". This is never lost on young players and almost always has an immediate effect on the attitudes in the clubhouse.
