Supreme Court Says Muzzleloaders are Legally Firearms
Cheyenne- Posted 6/28/06
Associated Press
The ruling comes in an appeal by a convicted felon who says he thought he was allowed to own a black powder rifle. Such rifles are excluded from the federal definition of firearms.
A spokesman for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department says the ruling will come as a blow to some Wyoming residents who have felony convictions in the past but who are now dedicated black powder hunters.
Governor Freudenthal says he would favor changing the state law to allow convicted felons to continue to hunt with black powder guns.
The court ruling released Wednesday upholds the conviction of Frank Alan Harris in a Casper court on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the court ruling, Harris was previously convicted of aggravated robbery and robbery.
No. You went to some off-the-wall site that teases people with scare stories and used THEIR link which goes to nothing specific so no one can ever find out that the off-the-wall site is full of bs.
We see this all the time on the internet. Sorry to see you are a part of it.
Exactly who is "We", and bite me.
Yeah, I bought and 1893 7MM Spanish Mauser as an antique and enjoyed a paperwork free transaction. I'm sure the commies would get their panties in a serious bunch if they knew what a great shooting rifle this is. It will rival any modern bolt action sporter on the market for acuracy. :)
Here is what your link says. Now how can you read that and say it says that having bleach under your kitchen sink is a felony>
------------------------------------------
Still think youre not a criminal?
Really. So youve never: ... put prescription medicine into one of those little daily dispenser containers, .... owned chemicals that might be used in bomb making (like the bleach and ammonia bottles under your kitchen sink) ....
Why you cannot or will not understand this fact eludes me.
If you don't believe me, ask your lawyer. Or ask the BATF. Whether you care to admit it or not, muzzleloaders are NOT firearms, are not subject to the taxation and licencing restrictions of firearms, and are routinely sold in legal interstate commerce by outfits not having an FFL to private citizens not having an FFL.
These are facts. Deal with them.
Eye did mine hoemwork.
If you don't like it, change the US Code.
There are reasons it is comprised of thousands of pages, and none of them are good.
Short Answer: You are ducking.
Excellent post, but don't waste your breath on this clown. He's raycpa incarnate. Facts mean nothing to them. All I ever see when I read one of their posts is "blah blah blah blah."
You refuse to accept the possibility that you may be a closet felon because of things you advocate.
By the way, welcome to Free Republic.
I confess. I have a jug and a half of bleach under my bathroom sink.
Meth lab.
Get ready to defend yourself against a SWAT team.
Not to mention we now have the Lautenberg Amendment which forbids people convicted of certain misdemeanors from possessing firearms. Next will be DUI convictions. Then reckless driving. Next thing you know, not making timely payments on your student financial aid will be enough to take away your 2nd Amendment rights for life.
You forgot ex-spousal maintenance, child support and red light / speed camera tickets.
There's serious talk of banning "sex offenders" from owning firearms which sounds all fine and dandy except that in some places, drunkenly urinating behind a dumpster in a dark alley is considered a "sex offense."
I think many states simply prohibit felons from possessing deadly weapons. Period. That would do it. Next case.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>States that forbid felons from having deadly weapons enumerate them, and they don't include hammers.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
First you say how simple it would be and then you say enumerate the deadly weapons, which is it? You seem confused. You cannot have it both ways.
the derringer didn't kill lincoln, boothe did.
basically, i wouldn't own it. but if i came into possesion of it, i'd have it sold immediately so i could buy something i could shoot :)
Well, THAT headline scared me real good.....
But they don't - and you have proven exactly WHY firearms laws don't work.
