Hey, that 1100 sq. ft 6-room house with no garage, ac, or dishwasher? Not so bad, the wife stayed home. LOL
I have a problem with any of these mega-chain stores - WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc.
My issue is that they drive out small, independent retailers who run businesses which are often family owned, community oriented, and sell quality products - consequently at prices above that of the cheap garbage a lot of these mega stores sell.
I think a more expensive quality product is cheaper in the long as it lasts longer and performs better. Also, small specialty stores are generally run by people who are knowledgable about the products they sell and can give you intelleigant advice - soemthing often lacking in these mega stores.
But Wal-Mart is probably no better or no worse than the other mega stores in this regard.
"Hard statistics vs. your feelings? Sorry, but I'll make my business and investment decisions based on stats over your anecdotes every time. Of course, most people don't need any stats at all. They can just look around to see all the proof they need that we're a lot better off today than we were 20, 30 or 50 years ago."
I suspect that you support the way that President Bush has managed the borders situation. I also suspect that you either weren't born fifty years ago, or weren't old enough to appreciate what we had then.
One of their favorite activities is to point to someone who they believe has been, or could be, negatively affected by Wal-Mart's success no matter how temporarily misinterpret the meaning of this phenomenon, and proceed to work themselves into a frenzy because they are convinced that this proves that Wal-Mart is destroying the world.
Coulter is sooooooo right about how liberals use the victim card. No rational argument, just dig up a so-called victim or two.
It's one thing to understand that liberals haven't had a new idea in 40 years, but that their tactics are 40 years old too is disgusting. Are liberals lame or what?
So WalMart doesn't sell any American made goods? I don't suppose you have any facts to back you up?
Even if you don't like WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc., you are required to shop there anyway.
It's the law.
"The truck today has: Pretensioned seatbelt, airbags, antilock brakes, bigger tires, alloy wheels, power: windows, door locks, brakes, steering; automatic tranny, AM/FM/CD 4 speaker stereo, emissions systems, fuel injection. better MPG, Blah Blah Blah. Not to metion more cost in worker's insurance than steel!
Hardly a fair comparison.
Let's not talk about the non-air conditioned 3br-1ba 1100 sq ft house."
Let's not talk about vehicles that only dealers are equipped to repair, that are junked long before their drivetrains wear out because they have electrical quirks that make them unuseable, and McMansions whose size is only surpassed by the size of their mortgages.
I agree, even though I don't shop there.
This myth about Wal Mart killing "the little guy" is as STUPID as saying that McDonald's and Chile's killed independent restaurants.
Yep. They gave lessons to Miz Lewinsky.
For which reason, I simply don't shop there.
It's good to live in a more or less free country.
Wal-Mart is to blame for those also? This phenomenon requires more study.
"So WalMart doesn't sell any American made goods? I don't suppose you have any facts to back you up?"
I didn't say that Walmart doesn't sell any American made goods, therefore I'll not attempt to present any facts to support that. I suggest you read my question again.
Yes.
Great post!
Ummmm, here's what most people do - if they don't like a store they don't shop there. Try it. Your irrational anger about where other people shop will go away as you work on your anger management problems.
I cannot imagine being angry that some people shop for books at Borders while I like Barns and Noble. Walmart is outrageously successful because people like to shop there. If you don't, go to some overpriced Mom&PoP and pay for the privilege. No skin off a capitalist's nose - it's how the system works.
"Wal-Mart is to blame for those also? This phenomenon requires more study."
Don't be ridiculous.
My husband has one job. I'm a homemaker, although I recently did take a part time job at our local Moose Lodge, not because i had to, but because I wanted to do so, and it helps out the Lodge, they didn't have go looking outside the membership to find someone to do it.
Our 8 year old daughter isn't in daycare, in fact she and her friend are currently sitting down for lunch that I helped them fix.....and her friend's mom is also a homemaker. While I ran errands this morning she had the girls at her house, and now I have them while she is running errands.
And yes we shop in WalMart, and we buy American made products whenever possible.......including in WalMart. They sell plenty of American made products.
I call our local one "HellMart".
Well, actually, they have done such a good job of driving out their competition, that people often have little practiccal or convenient alternative, which is probably the same thing.
Whenever possible, I avoid them personally - even if it means using the Net to order quality products.
In what ways does Walmart obtain and promote American made goods?
