Police are looking for a man who turned the tables on three would-be robbers and shot them early Tuesday in the Tenderloin. Police say the three first tried to rob a man at 3:30 a.m. at Turk and Leavenworth streets, but he was able to escape. The man then watched as the suspects confronted a couple and tried to grab a backpack from them, police said. The man with the backpack pulled a gun and shot the three, police said. One man was wounded in the leg and was quickly arrested, and a second man wounded in the arm and buttocks was found around the corner. The third man, wounded in the buttocks and groin, went to the Tenderloin Task Force police station for help. "You've got to go somewhere," Inspector John Peterson said. "Where he was shot, he needed the help.'' The three men each were charged with two counts of attempted robbery. Their names were not immediately released. "It's rare to have a victim be armed and use the weapon successfully on all three perpetrators,'' Peterson said. "We would like to talk to that victim to hear the rest of the story.''

Yeah, that "victim" should just count himself fortunate (and anonymous)!

Yes and there is ocean front property in Arizona that is available. If they find this great person they will put him in jail and laugh their heads off as the felons take their revenge.

Especially rare in SF since normally only the criminals have guns due to the opprssive gun control laws.

They are going to hang this guy out to dry if they find him.In San Francisco? I am sure that the police and the press and the City Fathers(sic) regard this fellow as the villain in this play and want to drag him out for firearms violations and get him in position for lawsuits and such.

As a pilot my favorite airport is a little place in Indiantown, Florida. In the airport office is a sign that states the 10 biggest lies in aviation:
#1, Hi I'm from the federal aviation administration and I'm here to help you.
The victim should have nothing to do with the law cause they surely aren't interested in helping.

Yeah, they think he's a victim alright - he's going to be a victim of some of the most asinine laws in the country if they catch him.
Hope the guy used an automatic and has since changed his barrel, extractor and firing pin, plus either filing or replacing his breech face.

In SF 'position' has nothing to do with lawsuits.

Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law. (Anything you say will be used in any way possible to make you look like you are guilty of something)
Bernard Goetz, who was only defending himself, talked and was vilified as a "vigilante", and sent to jail for unlicensed possession of a firearm. His big mistake was that he was born white and the criminals he shot were black.
Attention CCW holders: When assessing the tactical situation, you must always consider what is behind your intended target so you can make sure no bystander is accidentally shot. Now you must also make a quick racial and demographic assessment of the intended target as well before deciding if you can use deadly force to protect yourself from imminent harm.
