When my friends see me drinking Bud or Coors Light, they know I'm trying to sober-up.

Budweiser.

LOL. They use that as a pesticide to spray the playing field.

My first trip overseas (Singapore) it really hit me that I was far from home....sitting in the lobby bar, I of course had my choice of foreign or domestic; kinda weird to see lousy Bud getting a premium price as a foreign beer.

Yep, just another example of the BIG BEER companies screwing the little guy--by colluding to limit the supply of beer to drive up the price of beer! (s/off)

You can actually buy Budvar (Budweiser) in the States. Because of all the legal complications, it's called Czechvar over here.

It's the same all over the world. People who just want to show off drink "foreign" instead of "domestic" this and that.......

There's always been a significant worldwide demand for good beer. The Germans have my taste buds reeled in too. St. Pauli Girl, Beck's Dark, Beck's Oktoberfest, Dinkel Acker, Bitberger, Elzacher Löwenbräu (Miller should screwed that beer/name up here in the US), Tucher Bajuvator, and my favorite at this time: Warsteiner.

"Kann ich ein Bier haben?" = "Can I have a beer?"

"Prost!" = "Down it in one".

"Diese Bier ist sehr gut" = "This beer is very good"

"Lass uns anstossen" = "Cheers", or "let’s drink".

Say it when you clink glasses.

That's not much beer. Someone didn't think ahead.

"ok that is the 2nd reference to Newcastle and Coal. Whats that mean?

"

It's a british thing. Newcastle upon Tyne was once a major coal producing region in England. One didn't take coal to Newcastle...that would be silly, since Newcastle had all the coal it could possibly need. Newcastle sent its coal all over England.

It just means a foolish thing to do.

Taking beer to Germany is in that category.

Yeah, but the microbreweries wouldn't make even a dent in the beer stream in Germany.
