New Airline Says Thank You For Smoking

BERLIN - A German businessman has founded an airline dedicated to smokers.

Smintair, or "Smokers' International Airways," aims to cater for smoking passengers, particularly from Asia, who feel they have been squeezed out of the market.

Its first aircraft are due to take off in October on a route between Dusseldorf and Tokyo and are expected to serve mainly Japanese businessmen.

.........

"It disturbs me that I pay a lot of money for a ticket only to be told what I can and cannot do," he said.

The anti-smoking nazis are incapable of rational thought. They can't even connect the dots on discrimination and minorities. 13% of the population is black and they get everything they want. 25% of the population are smokers, and we're treated with disdain.

Cool! All non-smokers should not be allowed compressed air above 12,500 feet, since it would also reduce fuel economy.

It will reduce the fuel economy at any altitude. Another thing I didn't mention is that the air inside the airplane is not moving (much). This means there is a change in momentum from when the air was outside the airplane to when the air is inside the airplane. Since the momentum has changed in a finite time period, work must be applied.

Non-smokers have an outstanding ability of failing to understand a rather simple fact: Smokers breath the exact same air as they do!

Not all smokers are that way. I smoke, but I never smoke indoors or around children. When you are outside, smoking around others typically isn't an issue since the smoke is too diffuse. It is a different story in a confined space. Usually common sense applies.

I'd fly it (even though I don't smoke, but used to) because that is a daring, brazen, un-PC concept. It's anecdotal, admittedly, but smokers are known to be more generous tippers, and, frankly, a Smoker's Airline could be a great place to meet conservatives/libertarians.

Still, there is a price-point to which I'm also sensitive. Good luck to them. Why is it that The Land of the Free can't come up with something like this anymore?

Huzzah.

With an airliner, the engines compress the air and it is directed into the cabin.

In the rear of the aircraft, there is an exit valve (approximately 18 inches in diameter) which is used to regulate the internal pressure. This valve is used to provide a comfortable atmospheric pressure for the passengers. Humidity or other air quality factors is not something that this simple valve has any control over.

Smokers and non-smokers are subjected to the exact same atmospheric controls.

We need an airline called "NRA Air". No passenger would be allowed on the plane without a loaded handgun (although exceptions could be made for certain knives and carbines capable of fitting in the overhead storage compartments), the in-flight movies would consist of titles like "Red Dawn", "Team America", "True Grit", "Dirty Harry", "Monte Walsh" and "Lonesome Dove", and the flight attendants (all female, of course) would wear skimpy cowgirl costumes, complete with functional six-shooters. Naturally, every passenger would receive a complimentary copy of AMERICAN RIFLEMAN magazine.

You forgot the complimentary Jack Daniels and Cuban cigars.

It just occurred to me that this concept has room for expansion. How about an airline for drunks?

I have a friend who swears that he was on a South American airline and asked the stewardess (i.e. cabin attendant) for a scotch. She said, "We don't have any of that, but we have some very good wine. That's what the pilot is drinking."

That's one airline I'll never fly on. I once had to sit in the back of a Braniff...

I once flew Braniff...From Travis AF Base to Tahn San Nhut, Viet Nam.

It's not free. The more frequently the air is exchanged the lower the fuel economy.

Then a Prius is just right for you. Wind it up really really tight and let 'er rip.

At this moment, I am watching the movie "Summer of 42" and remembering when Americans had some common sense. America use to represent freedom!

To me, smoking is my symbol of American freedom. Infringe upon that symbol, and it may cause someone physical harm.

Sometimes, a line must be drawn.

You'd love Seattle: the Emerald Soviet recently enacted a 25-foot rule, displacing all smokers, even at private clubs, to the streets, where it's (quite) often inclement.

Result? "Smoke-easies" - places where one literally risks prosecution to be able to smoke and have a cocktail.

And it didn't take long.

I absolutely LOVE your attitude.

Thanks Gabz. I always wondered how I got on your ping list. LOL.

What twists my shorts are these lily-livered pansies that try to dictate to others how to live their lives.

I stopped smoking for 5 years and NEVER had an issue with smokers lighting up in my office.

Today's nazis would be laughed out of a foxhole and shot by the enemy if they pulled this shit during WWII.

Let's not forget that everyone is too fat, too skinny, too short, too tall, too bald, but not enough rights for left-handed, Welsh marksmen who vote conservative on the 5th Tuesday on February 30th.

I'd love to stand up in an anti-smokers convention and walk around the room and nit-pick everyone in the place.

I didn't know anti-smokers were in charge of connecting dots but it's not about numbers. Black is beautiful...Smoke is grey and stinky.

Good! What part of .....

an airline dedicated to smokers

did you NOT understand?

Calm down a'ready.

Gad. I used to be a smoker - until the docs finally found out that cigarette smoke was what was making me so ill that they were going to operate on my sinuses - allergy testing went off the chart with cigarette smoke.

For many years, where I went and activities etc were restricted, and I had to leave 2 jobs because of cigarette smoking. (others)

No one gets sick or has to choose between getting ill and keeping a job because I don't smoke. It's been very helpful now with smoking in public places restricted.

Bottom line is, Any one person's "rights" end where another person's nose begins."

Good golly. I hope I wasn't as thin-skinned, belligerent and unable to recognize other peoples rights back when I smoked.
