House Race Hotline Extra: Utah 03 Some quotes to illustrate the importance of this race.
"There is a very good chance that he could go down," Jeff Hartley, executive director of the Utah Republican Party, tells First Read. "You wouldn't have the involvement from the White House if he weren't in jeopardy." (NBC News)
Consultant LeVarr Webb: "A low turnout is expected, so be one of the few who make a difference and have a voice." (Utah Policy Daily) )
UT GOP Chair Joe Cannon "says he's trying to stay neutral" in his brother's UT 03 primary, "but it didn't come across that way" in his online comments about challenger/alleged Satan victim John Jacob (Salt Lake Tribune).
A poll published over the weekend by the Deseret Morning News and KSL-TV, conducted by Dan Jones & Associates, found Cannon ahead 46-33 percent among registered voters in the 3rd District. But 18 percent of voters remained undecided. "That's one of the highest 'undecideds' numbers I've seen so close to a primary election," said Jones, who has polled in Utah for more than 30 years. (Deseret News)
Jacob backtracks on his "Satan" comments: "What the [Salt Lake Tribune] reported and what I said weren't the same thing. It wasn't that [the devil] was trying to keep me out of Washington. I was just saying when you're trying to get into politics, there's a lot of adversity.
Contrary to reports of saying it was keeping me from being there, it was going to help me in training when I get there. It's not the devil; it's adversity." (Utah Policy Daily)
You have to know that in Utah most anyone who is breathing will get a high ACU rating. This is the most conservative of conservative states.
Just finished mine lol
Three crimes that sent a chill through everyone and stand out in the minds of those of us who lived through it is: Manson, Hillside Strangler and the Nightstalker. Even using them in this context isn't particularly amusing.
That's the best news I've heard all day. Maybe he's done some of his own internals. Dane, what say you?
Are they doing any exit polls? Close at 8:pm (10:pm EST)... with electronic polling we should have some numbers pretty quick.
Yes, you responded to it, which led to a series of exchanges culminating in you asking me this: "Then why is my name your post if it's not directed at me?"
Are you a simpleton or just obtuse? Sheesh!
Oh the suspense!(BTW what's your source other than your fingers pounding on a keyboard).
Yes. I know. That's where "for that matter" comes from.
Those bringing Reagan up in their posts before you did only intended to divert the topic into something entirely different and it didn't work.
Uh huh. Well, I can support an idea without genuflecting at the feet of demagogues.
Shouldn't you be out stocking up on Depends?
To give you some perspective, I wasn't alive during the Manson killings. You are either the most sensitive person in the world or you just woke up from a coma.
OK, so if Jacob loses, he loses, right? No moral victories?
Or will he have "won" if he can secure the votes of his immediate family?
Tancredo is firing a silver bullet. If Cannon lives, Tancredo will be neutered as a force in the House, at least as far as his silly PAC is concerned.
He will, however, have a boat load of money that the goobers sent him so that he can pay Bay and fund more quixotic forays in the future.
It's more like if Cannon wins he wins but amnesty is still going nowhere. And Luis Gutierrez will continue to have a pal to hang around with at their political get togethers with the open borders Manhattan Institute.
On another political board(hint spiffy's fan base of 10) they said tancredo was on Neil Cavuto saying he will run for President.
My opinion,
part deux
There you go again, projecting. Where did I say any such thing?
You know, I wonder how much money that PAC has actually received. Even the Tancredoites on FR are warmed-over Patsies (Buchananites, sorry, I just love the term Patsy as much as I liked Perotgie). They moved from trade to illegal immigration.
The thing is that illegal immigration has a much broader following if shallow. (Witness that CA has two Senators indifferent to the issue and Gilchrist couldn't get off the ground.) Very few people believe that ill. imm. is not a problem to one extent or another.
But these are not people who give money to PACs and even so, not in 4-digit quantities.
