Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath” about his network’s recent ratings slide – and has given notice to staffers that he’s willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.

The cable news channel’s overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.

Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.

Ailes is said to be "fuming” over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.

He feels production values are slipping and bookers aren’t aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.

A full-page "Now Hiring” ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?”

Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.”

An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who don’t will not. And that includes talent.”

I watch the financial shows on Saturdays. Sometimes Lenny Dysktra is one of the guests. What's up with that?

Stop spending half the day talking about missing white girls, and I will start tuning in again.

Seriously!

It's as if FoxNews doesn't know that non-whites go missing too. It's rather obvious, frankly, and more than a little offensive.

He should fire a few of those liberals and get back to what got them there, the conservatives who watched. I don't even watch Fox anymore because of the liberal crap. Got as bad as CNN.

In response to Post #77

You need to wake up.
O'reilly has the highest ratings on Fox.

Why would they get rid of their highest rated show?

Neal Gabler needs to go.

Ditto that.

Another suggestion for Ailes: enough with the missing blonde stories (Natalee is but one), and do real news.

If I hear one more "new developments" Natalie and/or Smith story I'll need another remote as I've already worn out one.
Jeez, common gang, enough is enough. Go back to more in depth real news that actually affects us. It seems like FNC is after court TV's audience.

Ailes is fantastic, but this latest problem was his own fault, hiring to many lefties. He has a niche and he's diluting it, simple problem with a simple solution.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, FoxNews appears to be femming down lately. Possibly in an effort to attract more of the fairer sex(who ostensibly control the spending) for advertisers, they may be crapping in their mess kit by losing the hard news crowd.

People(both men and women I suspect) desperate for some semblence of real news flocked to Fox early on. There should be no reason for a slide in viewership unless they themselves have changed. Their competition doesn't appear to have done anything to recover their losses to Fox, so I'd guess there's something else at play. But whadda I know.

Ailes should recall who brung him to the dance.

Debbie Schlussel would be great as a host.
Laura Ingraham I dont think wants to do TV anymore.
Malken and Ann Coulter are better as guests.
I dont think they would be good as hosts.

Get rid of Juan Williams, Whorealdo and Allan Colmes and the ratings will go back up.

Give Michael Savage a slot....that would be rich and he can refer to Bill O'Reilly as the Leprechaun and Greta as Scarface right on the same network. To hear them bash each other on the same network would be priceless and an original theme portrayed on TV. Fox would Rock....
