Rush Limbaugh was briefly detained Monday at Palm Beach International Airport when customs agents inspected the conservative talk show host's luggage and found Viagra that belonged to two Florida doctors, authorities said.
"He was not arrested," Palm Beach County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela said.
Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued a statement through a spokesman saying that agents found a "non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."
Limbaugh, 55, of Palm Beach, and three others arrived on a private jet from the Dominican Republic to the General Air Facility at PBIA on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service said.
Agents searched the plane during a routine customs inspection and found a pill bottle that was not in Limbaugh's name, said Jennifer Connors, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman. Agents confiscated the medicine and called the Sheriff's Office, which took over the investigation.
"Mr. Limbaugh was cooperative. He gave a statement that he had a bottle in his possession and that it was Viagra," said sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller, who noted that the prescription was filled in Florida.

Make one wonder why are millions of men, even young men are who using Viagra...?
It must be something in our food or somewhere in the the enviorment that causes people to be fat, having more mental health, issues or erectile dysfunction etc.
Than the drug company get rich and the hospital recycle us!
I think Sensei makes a very good point. We are not permitted to judge the state of someone's soul, that is up to the Lord alone, but someone's behavior is a different cup of tea. Even in the bible, it says that we are to confront those who are commiting habitual sin, and in doing so, we are possibly helping their souls to be saved and wiping away a multitude of our own sins. (I wish I could remember the exact scripture passage - I know I butchered it).
I love Rush and listen to him often. But I too have problems with the "Do as I say, not as I do" philosophy.
And to be quite frank, if I was doing something sinful, I would definitely want to be confronted. How else can I be a better person, a better wife, mother, and follower of Christ.
Rush has done more to counter liberalism than anyone ever has and I thank God for that...
What is it with you people? I meantt Ted Kennedy would get the same treatment from Rush if if he was caught with Viagra.
The young lady with whom I spoke said she was couldn't tell me if the sherriff, Ric Bradshaw, was a Democrat.
Yes he is a democrat. I wrote a little bit about local politics here yesterday.
The local media is even doing a poll this morning. They are upset that Rush made fun of the escapade at the airport on the radio yesterday. They are after him today, saying that he thinks he is above the law.
Actually it is kind of fun, in a weird way, watching the local media froth at the mouth. He's not taking "their power" seriously. Doesn't he know that they can crush him, lol.
Thanx. I was stuck at a dead end by assuming that the doctor wrote the script to himself and that the person for whom the Rx is written is the 'owner'.
"Personal property tax, not property tax. "
My mistake.
I believe the other poster was talking about treatment by local politicians and authorities, not by Rush. Rush wouldn't be "treating" anyone- he'd be saying things about them. That's a far cry from having physical control over someone and their property- as in detaining you for hours and confiscating your medication, making comments to the press about potential crimes and arrest and legal action etc etc.
In this case it wouldn't surprise me if customs had a heads up from local authorities because they are wanting to get Rush on anything they can - even making a mountain out of a molehill like a legal prescription for a non-narcotic drug.
The media is obviously titillated over this. This they love. They don't love stories about WMD being found, or members of the congressional non-white caucus being in trouble with the law, or sitting presidents sexually harassing younger women in the oval office, or fanatical-hate-filled terrorists slicing the heads off of Americans.
There is no doubt of the extreme, radical, leftist bias of the media.
He apparently IS above the law. He didn't do any prison time for his involvement in the drugs ring some years ago.
Nor does anyone who goes through drug rehab. Some do this several times without prosecution. Rush was nearly run through even though he went to rehab right away.
I don't know about straight away. He went there after he had been caught.
You obviously know nothing about Florida Law.
The first time offender court is SOP for anyone actually caught illegally obtaining perscriptions. (something the authorities have utterly failed to do in any legally sufficient manner other than through a "sandwich" indictment based on an extortionist represented by a friend of bill lawyer)
In this situation you had a state attorney violating ethics rules (per FL bar complaint) and playing games to try and treat this person DIFFERENTLY than all the others who have gone through the treatment system and had they case utterly dropped.
As it stands now, the ONLY thing the prosecutor would gain from an attempt to remove Rush from the program is a reinstatment of the program for Rush OR an actual trial where the prosecutors conduct and his witnesses can be put on trial.
Keep in mind MANY democrat officials have gone through the same system. This "detention" is just sour grapes on the part of West Palm Beach. These elected officials should remember Rush has deep campaign contribution pockets and a large listening audience.
Just announced, Rush not to be charged for Viagra. Turns out it's not a controlled substance. Didn't someone sayt that? Still investigating the doctors. Hope Rush sues Custom's agents for leaking this to the press.
I know that the Dominican Republic is the sex capital of the Caribbean, but 29 viagra tablets seems rather excessive. I am sure he packed them by accident!
"29 viagra tablets seems rather excessive."
I think he had a prescription of 30 and had 29 left. That is he only used one.
No, I meant excessive to take on holiday with you - even to somewhere with as notorious a reputation as Dominican Republic. I guess he thought he'd be busy there.
First you are assuming he had sex, we don't know he did. Second I often throw the entire bottle of pills in the suitcase, even ones I only take every few days on a 3 day trip.
