MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:
While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.
"Tell that to the Duke LaCrosse team."
I wouldn't give them a pass. They did invite that trash into their house. Lie down with the dogs, wake up with fleas.
I'd like to think that someone as on-the-ball as Rush is politically would have figured out how to keep the wheels on a marriage after a couple of unsuccessful attempts. The guy's good at several different things; it's not like he's a Savant.
"Insanity" is continuing to do what didn't work last time.
And it's not like I thought the guy was a saint, I knew better than that, I simply thought he had a little bit more self-control than is now evident. Not like I listened to him for moral guidance, but all of the patter about "excellence" and "guaranteed to be right at least 98.7% of the time" -- that stuff conveys the air of a higher standard, one that, in order to be bona fide, ought well have carried over into all areas of his life, not just those hours behind the EIB microphone. Sad to find out that the "excellence" part really is just a schtick, after all.
It still makes for good talk radio, but I'd expected to find a whole lot more in the warehouse of his personal life to back up the high-falutin' window dressing of his show.
Good post... know you took a lot of heat for it, but it is spot on.
If the airport people had not opened their mouths, this would be a non-issue, because they are subject to being fired if they don't do their jobs. They are now tested quite regularly for job preformance and they don't know when they will be tested.
If this was my job, and I ran across Hilary Clintoon and/or Ann Coulter, sorry, I would have to just do my job the best I understood it to be and let the chips fall where they might fall.
CYNTHIA MC KINNEY (moonbat congresscritter Dem out of Georgia) hit a guard man while he was just doing his job of guarding the gate. Most FR people supported him for doing his job, few didn't.. Other than someone in the mess reporting this to the media, the guards here were just doing their job.
Rush is a guy who has a lot of money and a lot of power through his listeners. I think he's gotten a little - the best description I can think of is one my mother used to use - "too full of himself".
All of the stuff you talk about really is just schtick. Not much else.
But the guy did really invent Conservative talk radio. Whatever his failings, I appreciate him for that.
Why? If he went to the Dominican Republic for sex tourism, it's none of our business. If he broke Dominican law in doing so, it the DR's concern, not ours.
Don't you feel pretty stupid making a big assumption like that?
You'll get no argument from me on that score; and I'm certainly not going to take the least of that away from him over his personal flaws. It'd be a pretty messed up world if one had to be PERFECT in every way for one's accomplishments to actually count. Nobody'd get credit for anything.
If I had to put Rush into a category- I'd say he fits more with the "South Park Republicans" than, "The Christian Right".
One of his early tweaks of the femminazi's went something like: "I love the women's movement, especially when I'm behind it". He's never been a choirboy. His show today was hysterical- loaded with one-liners and innuendo's about Viagra.
I can't help but wonder if this stunt of the left is going to end up backfiring on them. Considering how obsessed they are with "The Package" (to the point of being weird) , I bet it will start to irritate them that the media is talking about matters related to Rush's package.
While this latest episode is funny - it is also scary. They are watching Rush's every move, and looking to get him on anything. It wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that they arrested Rush for Jay-Walking and sentenced him to the death penalty. (I'm only half kidding). ANYTHING is possible in the Floriduh judicial system.
( If the libs ever do "get him"- Rush won't be able to count on the "Republicans" to help him -though he's helped them so much. All a liberal has to do is say "Boo!" in PC language, and the repubs will whimper, and run, and cower under their desks, while stabbing our own people in the back on the way- even our military.)
The libs will absolutely destroy Rush if they get the chance. He points out all the time how enraged and crazy the left is, but, does he understand how much of that rage is directed at him? When he makes stupid mistakes like this, it doesn't seem like he does. He's taking it all way too lightly IMHO.
I can't for the life of me, understand why he stays in that corruption-riddled Rat hole of a state. I don't care how pretty his house on the beach is- it's in the middle of a Rat hole. He should get out of there ASAP. There are plenty of other states with ocean front property that don't have the Floriduh judicial system and it's , shall we say "unique" cases- the 2000 election, Terri Schiavo, Elian Gonzales, not too mention they tried with all their might to jail Rush .
(You couldn't pay me to live there. Even my blue state of California does not have the corruption of FL. Please note I didn't say "judicial insanity"- Ca definitely is Numero Uno for judicial insanity- The 9th Circus has had some "classic" rulings.)
There is something really wrong wrong with the Fl. judiciary, and it looks like the corruption is deeply entrenched, and goes up to high levels in the government .
Rush should get the heck out of there.
Very good analysis.
I dislike Florida, having been stationed at Cecil Field. Okay to visit though.

It may or may not be legal. I have the right to think that it's really really really sleazy. I despise this kind of behavior in anybody, Lib and Conservative alike. It just deeply saddens me when a Conservative does it. Or do you think this kind of thing is perfectly okay?
Rush is a public figure, a leader. People look up to him. When he does stuff like this it matters. It's not good.
The police were wrong
The misdomeanor is for "possision of drugs not in your name" is one of those stupid laws that makes it illegal for you to carry your mom's presription pill bottle in your purse or pocket

Great post.
Ahh but here is the twist under florida law.
He is allowed to use any name he wants as long as he admits to using the name himself.
This is akin to a nick name as long as the person admits it is theirs.
Thus rush admitted the pills were his.
He admitted the name on the bottle (though different) was a name he used for himself.
The perscription was written by a doctor for him.
IOW no crime.
It is not even someone elses pills in his possession. It was HIS pills in HIS possession, written as a perscription for HIM.
Just figured out WHY Rush needs Viagra......he's dating that liberal info babe Daren Kagin from CNN....no WONDER he needs help.
OK SO WHAT DID HE HAVE TO SAY ON HIS SHOW ABOUT THIS? I WASNT ABLE TO LISTEN YESTERDAY
Why should I?
It's true, I have met him in person which has only confirmed this viewpoint.
Just made some jokes.
