MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:
While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.
Good point.
This thing was announced for embarrassment purpose only. I don't blame anyone for checking it out even if it took three hours but once they got the info they needed they should have dropped it and said nothing.
How did the MD get the drugs? If they were given to him, I believe Florida law says they have to have the patient's name on the label.
If not, who was the pharmacist?
I honestly don't know. It's possible that the media guy down there in Florida would have thought it would be newsworthy and alerted Hq to possible media interest, but he wouldn't call the media directly.
Or, there could have been someone else in secondary at the same time who overheard.
Or, pillow talk. CBP Officer gets off work and says to his girlfriend, hey, guess what happened at work today.
Or, a CBP Officer with a big mouth is looking to get his/her butt fired for alerting the media to a "scoop".
Or, if local law enforcement was called, they told the press.
I'll probably know tomorrow.
He's not that homely. :)
Also...I can't BELIEVE that Roy Black wouldn't have slapped Rush upside the head during the first go-round with the drug issue and say, "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER AGAIN be in possession of drugs of any questionable issuance!!!"
Sure...they were going to go through his stuff with a fine-toothed comb...who wouldn't know that?!!
My Bat-Sense went off when he said he was going to the Dominican Republic.
Ping to my 344.
I'm tired and heading off to bed.
Who told? Who knows. We'll find out soon. If it was a CBP Officer not in the performance of his official duties, I'll lead the firing party.
I've been thru customs 2 dozen times and only ONCE did they even open my suitcase, so they are really giving him an anal exam just looking for a story or crime.
Nope...it was the other way around. I distinctly remember the "guess what other use Viagra has" stories.
No kidding...gotta pump blood...gotta pump blood...
Perhaps you're saying them with more tact and diplomacy... ;-)
'Night, all.
He's also funny. Women love funny, or so I've heard.
Exactly! Rush is ....... so here's how we hurt him. Pure BS and harassment. Thanks once again LSM.
Let someone hold up mom and dad for having prescription drugs and run it in the press with no source... she would scream a different story.
Rush can't look any sillier than that woody they photo-shopped on Gore's crotch on the cover of Rolling Stone. This'll all pass pretty quickly if only because all the old newspaper publishers are on viagra.
I don't care a fig about the who, I care about the why!
The name "Suzy Quzy" isn't on any list. I'm sure the name "Rush Limbaugh" is.
Bottom line...he was careless...if he was carrying aspirin...it should have been in a sealted container.
Drug companies give samples of prescription drugs to doctors all the time and doctors give them to their patients all the time -- all but class three drugs (Vicodin, Oxyconton, Tylenol-3). Viagra is not a class-3 drug.
Right and in Florida there's supposed to be label or info somewhere as to who the patient is.
Sounds like an honest assesment. Confidences are pretty difficult to keep, where celebrities are involved.
