"It makes a portion of American history, re Clinton and the NATO Bombing, more comprehensible and multi-faceted than just the "good guy/bad guy scenario" that the media has been feeding them for the last 15 years."

The media knows that the greater American public is incapable of understanding a multi-dimensional issue such as the Balkans and the Clinton regime understood this all too well.

PR firms really went full steam ahead with the propaganda blitzes knowing full well that the general public would be generally ignorant of Balkan affairs and could easily manipulate public opinion by mapping rudimentary knowledge of WWII to the Balkan conflicts so that the masses would be awe struck (equating Serbs with Nazis etc). Its all about playing up to he public mental model of conflicts, everyone knows the boiler plate WWII stuff, use that as the base model and voila, instant monsters in the public consciousness!

The general public was a blank canvas for the media to paint a picture upon and the success of this black and white strategy along with use of a broad brush would have made Hurst green with envy. Its really not that complex of a strategy, I mean look at all the MSM outfits, they use this tactic all the time. The play on the public ignorance is their greatest weapon.

It is the party you keep. The query is, would you sit next toHaris Siladjic if he agreed with you on other issues dear to your heart? I refuse/d money from certain persons that wanted to help with the Serbian Cycling Challenges 'Pedal in Peace' based on their agendas/ideology. It is a matter of principle and honor, Boka.

You don't want to taint yourself or your organization with any affiliation as it does come back to be lingering. Which is why the Serbian Church where I live is outcasted by many for their past affiliations.

Honor and Principle, honor and principle. Know what I mean, Vern?..:)

Socialists/Communists blueprint their attacks on anyone that attacks an institution backing their political ideologue, boka. It does not matter if it's liberal, middle/road or conservative, they will side with anyone that 'supports/ed' the Slobo dictatorship. i.e America is hated by all socialists so of course he'd jump on the Serb bandwagon to spite my country, America.

Whether he is humanely sincere or as I believe, he is politically sincere, he lost a friend and fellow ideologue in the old Serbian communist system.

And what if I think Handke is being unfairly painted with the same brush that painted the Serbs as "demons", ma? What if I think that Handke stuck his neck out for Serbs when he had no need to, other than to obey his God-given conscience? Should I kick him to the curb then?

No one gave a damn about Handke's politics until he defended the Serbs. No one boycotted his plays or dug up his history for "clues", denied him literary prizes or lied about his statemnents. But once he wrote a book that wasn't even political, it simply humanized the Serbs and the war, the world turned on him -- and did all of what they had not done to him before. Coincidence? I don't thinks so.

Believing what I believe, which is that Handke acted out of conscience and not political ideology, please tell me what kind of "integrity" would I have if I turned on him just because others have?

Zero! So let's agree to disagree.

don't come back to me when I am right as I'll say, "I told you soooooo"... :) lol

Just be careful of the parties you keep and or support is all I will say. Especially in this business, it isn't all fun, games and play. Some do play for keeps, boka.

Tell you what -- you take care of the militant jihadists bent on destruction of Western civilization, and I'll take care of the castrated socialists under the bed! Deal? ;>)

Ah, yes - the monolithic, evil west.

You wouldn't know what the "West" is if it came up and bit your fat ass.

It goes way beyond the general public.

Just the other day, Wayne LaPierre of the NRA, claimed the people of Srebrenica were unarmed!

"Silence, whore."

So you are clearly an agressive, sexist pig as well as a racist. Glad we cleared up that you are NOT part of Western Civilization!

Can just picture those words coming out of the mouth of some fat, oil-soaked, American-educated Saudi in a bed-sheet pretending to be "an American defending America"! What a joke! Western women giving you a run for your money, poor baby? Maybe it's time YOU donned the burka!

She posts purely to insult me, I will reply purely to insult her.

It's that simple.

In other words, you guys literally cannot discuss the issues on the merits - all you can do is post fanciful insults, like your buddy elenil21.

Please find a single post on this thread in which I take the side of any Muslim. My only mention of Islam on this thread has been to denounce it and its adherents.

And you know this, of course.

I hold no brief for adherents of Islam or Communism (unlike Peter Handke) or Fascism or any other murderous, anti-freedom ideology.

Therefore, I refuse to pretend along with Peter Handke that the Milosevic regime was worth defending.

If it salves your smarting conscience to imagine that I'm a foreigner or obese or any other ridiculous fantasy that makes you feel better about yourself, feel free to do so.

It still doesn't change the fact that Slobodan Milosevic was a murderous Communist scumbag.

Milosevic and his government allowed private property ownership, and the private sector was doing quite well and growing in Serbia - despite the sanctions. His government was also starting to return property seized by the Tito communist government installed after WWII, and they were repairing and building churches which had been left ruined are only partially built during Tito's entire reign. In fact, he had the economy running better under sanctions than the current more U.S. approved puppet government that now rules.

"She posts purely to insult me, I will reply purely to insult her"

Try again.

It wasn't the insult, it was the delivery. People insult each other here all the time -- and at times, cross a lot of lines that we likely shouldn't. It's not that, it's something else.

An American guy might have said "Shut up bitch", but "Silence, whore!" -- that's a whole other mindset.

"In other words, you guys literally cannot discuss the issues on the merits - all you can do is post fanciful insults, like your buddy elenil21."

Wrong. Eleni hasn't even adressed you since about 75 posts back! We have all given you a very hard time here since then -- arguing, insulting and cajoling-- but you pick her out from what -- two days ago?- to go after with "Silence, whore!"? Because she was dismissive of you back then?

It's just plain weird.

Yes, he was a murderous communist scumbag -- which made him the perfect guy to set up to take the fall for every horrible thing that happened in the break up of the former Yugoslavia. And while the world heaped its scorn on Milosevic for being "a murderous communist scumbag" and on the Serbs for being "allies of a murderous communist scumbag", everyone ignored what was --and still is -- really going on! Four former allies of WWII Nazi Germany -- the Slovenes, the Croats, the Bosnian Muslims and the Muslim Kosovo Albanians -- now have (or are about to gain) new countries thanks to a new and reunited Germany. And this is a disaster for America, whether they know it yet. or not!

Four former allies of WWII Nazi Germany -- the Slovenes, the Croats, the Bosnian Muslims and the Muslim Kosovo Albanians -- now have (or are about to gain) new countries thanks to a new and reunited Germany.

Perhaps I am biased because I have distant Slovenian relatives, but Slovenia seems to be a pretty normal, market-oriented little country.

Croatia is quite different - Tudjman was about the closest thing to a Nazi you can be in the modern era and get away with it.

Izetbegovic is an Islamist and his government should be regarded as no different from the Hamas regime in Gaza.

The Albanians is Kosovo seem to be a mix between hardcore Islamists and neo-Communists - they are just a poisonous brew.

Germany's role in all this is clear: I don't think Germany is not looking to create a resurgence of Nazism, but trying to create it's own sphere of influence to rival the US and Russia. German wants a pro-German bloc in Europe so it can use their votes and influence in the EU and possibly NATO to block initiatives that Germany finds deleterious. It's naked power politics.

Obviously, Germany should never be trusted and it should always be monitored.

correction...the black market was the driving force behind the states economy. Slobo couldn't change it as he tried to control it. He failed to reign it in or he'd have a full-scale revolution on his hands.

His policies were "persona non grata" for the economy. The decisions he made were concocted by his wife and he was the 'messenger boy' too.

These were all measures he inherited from Tito through Tito's samoupravljanje initiatives that were introduced when Milosevic was 9 years old.

Milosevic preserved the Communist state he grew up under and inherited from Tito - he was not some kind of reformer.
