Was Saddam Regime a Broker for Terror Alliances?

Prologue:
Newly declassified documents captured by U.S. forces indicate that Saddam Hussein's inner circle not only actively reached out to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan and terror-based jihadists in the region, but also hosted discussions with a known Al Qaeda operative about creating jihad training "centers," possibly in Baghdad.
Ray Robison, a former member of the CIA-directed Iraq Survey Group (ISG), supervised a group of linguists to analyze, archive and exploit the hundreds of captured documents and materials of Saddam's regime.
This is the final installment in a three-part series concerning a notebook kept by an Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) agent called Khaled Abd El Majid, and covers events taking place in 1999. The translation is provided by Robison's associate, known here as Sammi.
The first two translations from this notebook detailed an agreement between members of the Saddam regime and the Taliban to establish diplomatic and intelligence based cooperation. This final translation further advances the link between the Saddam regime and world-wide Islamic Jihad terrorism.

Thank you for putting those links all in one place. This week I'll update my list of Saddam/Al Qaeda contacts going back to the 90's.

Don't forget that the al Qaeda actively sought WMD from Iraq and worked hard on getting them from Iraq, (9-11 commission)
the desire for a relationship came from BOTH sides, i will have more on this within a week or two

At least FNC is publishing this. I wish others in the MSM would do this too instead of trying to bring down Bush43.

It sure looks that way Ernest. Heaven only knows what may yet surface. Surely WH, DoD, perhaps DoS press conferences shall close to the 2006 elections start to drop the bomb on the demorats and L/MSM. And surely by November 2008, a lot of well defined stuff should be packaged for political gains on our side. Just a matter of time.

I find the particular memo requesting volunteers for suicide mission one of the most interesting:
The Command of Ali Bin Abi Taleb Air Force Base
Subject: Volunteer for Suicide Mission
Air Brigadier General Abdel Magid Hammod Ali
Commander of Ali Bin Abi Taleb Air Force Base
Air Colonel Mohamad Majid Mahdi.
Why is this particular suicide mission requested from Iraqi AIR FORCE?? Did Iraq even have an Air Force in March of 2001?? Exactly what kind of suicide mission would they be requesting 3 months before 9/11?
Another interesting point relating to this memo:
The 911 conspiracy theories present a particular theory that these 19 men could not have been advanced enough as pilots to have the accuracy to hit the targets as perfectly as they did since they went to flight school and were not good students to begin with. They theorize that the pilots would have to have been either professional pilots which indicate state sponsorship (the U.S. govt. for the theorists; the hijackers were CIA operatives) or it was remote controlled plane.
We all know how ludicrous these theories are, but lets revisit the theory with this memo as a reference. This memo give the INDICATION that Iraq had his air force volunteer for a suicide mission - the only suicide mission that follows this memo that has to do with airplanes/pilots is 911.
One might counter that, some of the terrorists trained in flight schools none were in any air force. That is not proven, for one thing we don't really know exactly who most of the hijackers were. Another point, I would include is that easily there could have been a professional pilot (an Iraqi air force pilot or Iraqi commercial pilot - can be the same in Iraq) involved that knew exactly how to fly accurately and the hijackers who have trained in flight schools were there to be co-pilots and back up.
I find this entirely feasible, since we know that 911 was a compartmentalized attack, the majority of the hijackers had no idea of the actual plot. Possibly just 2 people per plane knew of the actual plot, leaving the pilot and co-pilot with the others as the traditional hijackers doing the footwork.
Just some logical thoughts!
To: AmericanYankee
That's what I've heard. Only one per plane knew of the actual plan.

" Why is this particular suicide mission requested from Iraqi AIR FORCE?? Did Iraq even have an Air Force in March of 2001??"
Iraq had an airforce during this period. But it was greatly diminished in structure and capability due to many of their fighter aircraft being flown to Iran during the first gulf war and never returned. I do not know how many Russian built jet transports they had in use. If they did have some Russian trained pilots on big jets, then perhaps goons could have been trained by them in general proceedure, and flight methods for handling large aircraft.
But that is not an issue as I see it. Guys like Atta where adequately trained to fly Boeing commercial jets once in the air. Take over the airplane cockpit, punch in the gps coordinates for flying the plane to the towers for instance, set the desired attitude, pull back the throttles a bit, push the wheel forward to decend to the low attitude, punch the autopilot button. Bingo. Plane flies itself to destination. When target in view, unset autopilot, aim plane for target. If you have to make a wild wide turn, course correction so be it, just do it, at this point one is not worried about passenger comfort in deep bank turn etc..
One does not have to understand very much about flying such an aircraft in this given scenario.

I understand how one trained in flight schools could have flew into the planes into the buildings and that Iraq didnt have much of an Air Force to begin with (my questions about the Iraqi Air Force were sarcastic). One of the arguments with resect to 911 is that these manuevers were hard for even experienced pilots and here you have guys wh attended flight schools supposedly doing advance maneuvers.
The important question remains with respect to this memo in that it requests volunteers in the Iraqi Air Force for a suicide mission 6 months before 9/11. The only air-oriented suicide attack after that memo is 9/11. Sure, it's coincidental but we have US memos also "predicting" hijackings before 911. Conspiracy theorists use these to say our govt knew that 911 was to occur. This is a memo from Iraq requesting what I would assume to be pilots from the Iraqi Air Force to perform a suicide mission six months before 9/11 - then 9/11 occurs. Call me wacky, but its looks somewhat suspicious to me!

No. You are not whacky. One could very easily accept the idea the Iraqi where behind the training of 9/11 pilots. We know Atta had on a few occasions just to name one, had contact with Iraqi Intel folks within Iraq.
I don't discount anything at this point. Saddam was up to his eye balls in ways to promote terrorism. To many docs/videos have been recovered at this point and found in the Harmony databases to think otherwise.

I think anyone with some sense of logic would look at Saddam for possible connections with terror attacks against the U.S. and these memos confirm that Saddam at the least supported attacks against us, if not 911, he had intentions to perform terrorism against the U.S.
What really sucks is that the MSM media now puts Iraq's WMD and terror ties in the UFO category, whoever continues to claim prove any of the two are real, they are subjectd to ridicule in the MSM.
I just remembered Stephen Hayes' interview on the Jon Stewart show where Hayes was flat out disrespected. Jon Stewart bascially laughed at Hayes as if he was investigating the Loch Ness monster and called the book a bunch of BS. I remember someone telling me that these TV interviews are actually scripted to a specific point of view, which in this case was that Saddam had no WMD or ties to Al Queda.
To: Names Ash Housewares
I think so. Supporting terrorist plots would give Saddam a way of hitting back at the U.S., while maintaining "plausible deniability".
To: AmericanYankee
Patience is a virtue. As the news leaks out about the WMDs the goons in the Gaza Strip claim to have, things will start to heat up. If Hamas launches anything that contains chemical and or biological ordnance against Israel, then as is starting to be discussed now, all roads will point to Iraq.
The L/MSM will not be able to hold down the hatches once the storm really builds into a full northeaster.
We shall read about where all that crap shipped by Russian transports to Syria just days before the tanks rolled into Baggy Dad, ended up. Allepo, Bekka valley etc., then smuggled into the Gaza Strip.
The truth shall slowly leak out.

I'm sure the dems are thinking "where is Sandy "paper pants" Berger when you need him?". They better put a guard on all the Iraqi documents or the dems will begin to make them disappear or they'll have problems winning in Nov.
