Cannon leading Jacob
Getting supporters to polls may be key to election Copyright 2006 Deseret Morning News
By Bob Bernick Jr. Deseret Morning News Rep. Chris Cannon holds a good lead over fellow Republican John Jacob in the 3rd Congressional District as Tuesday's primary approaches, a new Deseret Morning News/KSL-TV poll shows. But when pollster Dan Jones & Associates breaks out those most interested in the election and hard-core GOP voters, the race tightens consider- ably. Jones polled 617 registered 3rd District voters from Monday to Thursday. Among all the voters, Cannon leads 46 percent to 33 percent. Still, whether Cannon wins the chance for a sixth term or Jacob knocks him out of office Tuesday will largely depend on which man can get his supporters to the ballot box, said Jones. "Cannon has less than 50 percent of the vote," the poll shows, said Jones. "But at least he does have strong support among the Republicans" in the survey where Cannon leads 60-35 percent. And the race is in a closed Republican primary, open only in their case to GOP-registered voters.

I don't know. They sometimes take no stand on an issue if they think that reasonable conservatives can differ. My guess is, however, they'd rate it about the same as Jacob's plan.
My impression is that you, Dane and Sinkspur were all in favour of Bush's amnesty (not amnesty) plan along with 95% of the senate democrats and all the RINOs. If that's true, who are you to tell us who the real conservatives are?
I am hoping that he sees the handwriting on the wall...I'm in Bishop's district, and never paid enough attention to Cannon.
Except for parts of Salt Lake City...
I found this table:
Utah Registered Voters http://www.ballot-access.org/2004/0201.html#13
81,312 - Dems
317,186 - Republicans
909,986 - Unafiliated
122 - Constitution
883 - Green
2,273 - Libertarian
163 - Reform
79 - Nat Law
16,238 - Other
Those pesky undecideds could have a HUGE potential on the outcome, and there is absolutley no way to predict.
Dan Jones is an open borders Democrat operative, and this poll isn't worth the pixels it's taking up on FR. It's meant to change reality, not reflect it.
Your sources stink.
Dan Jones polls are a liberal scam.
But, of course, you know that.
I cannot and will not speak for others. But I don't believe in any sort of amnesty at all. Geopolitically, we have to force Mexico to deal with its pathologies.
That being said, I'm much more against pompous demagogues and I'm foresquare against elevating such individuals to positions of authority in the party. I got the whiff of Tancredo when he tied himself to Bay Buchanan. That was enough for me. And I said from the beginning that Jacob's lack of specificity was more than suspicious.
But by all means, make it about me. I know how important my opinion is to everyone.
You still haven't told me what constitutes a "win" on Jacob's part.
What, are you taking a break from the sandbox?
Success is just failure with attitude.
I'm far from an expert on Cannon or Jacob or even your position other than apparently Cannon is soft on the border. This issue trumps everything because without proper immigration (legal and illegal) this country will fall into the hands of the Rats in which case every conservative can forget about every single issue they care about. To take the Rat position on this issue is unacceptable I don't care if Cannon agrees with me 100% on everything else. Republicans need to be shown this amnesty crap is unacceptable and retiring this guy is as good as any other way of doing it.
The only reason to even post to people like you is in the hope that the sun will come up and you'll be caught out in the sunshine.
I doubt anyone knows for sure who will win. I wouldn't be surprised if Cannon won though.
Ah, still about me. What about Jacob? Come on, you can do it, just give me a number...
Sounds like EV is taking a page out of the howard dean book, where Paul Hackett's loss to Jean Schmitt was a "victory".
He's got to be a democrat plant. Have you seen his record? Wasn't he against Bilbray in Ca?
Even if he wins, you can bet that he'll limp into the chamber and meekly support strong border enforcement. Yeah I know he voted for HR 4437 but c'mon you and I both know his butt would have been barbecued even more by conservatives during the state convention.
You two are not getting along very lately are you? Let the sword play continue! I will score the points privately. Best to both of you.
