UC Davis ER

Requesting prayers for my godson, Joshua. His front bike wheel came off around 6:30 p.m. tonight and he did a face-plant in the street - got knocked out, a hole torn in his face from his nostril down to...??? - can't tell 'cuz his face was scraped up and covered in dried blood. He's in UC Davis Medical Center ER still with his parents tonight. He doesn't remember what happened and he doesn't remember the ambulance ride; he kept repeating things and he has a huge bump on the front of his forehead. The CT scan & the head & chest x-rays came out okay, but he's got some free-floating fluid in his abdomen. I love that little guy; please keep them in your prayers. Thank you!!

My husband had a similar kind of accident when he was about 10 -- bicycle, head and all (only he tore up his chin, not his cheek). Not too long after this (within 2 weeks, I think) he began having grand mal seizures. The MD said it was doubtlessly caused by the trauma to the head, since there is no epilepsy in his family.
Even today, 45 years later, he still must take anti-siezures Rx. So be prepared -- and prepare your grandson's parents. And remember, its not an instantaneous thing. Walt's seizures didn't occur till he was up and about for nearly half a month.

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that beloved Joshua's injuries were not more severe ... thank You for protecting him from horrendous harm.
Grant wisdom to his medical team and those charged with his care, that they might be instruments of Your healing. Restore unto him the fullness of health, to the delight of Monica and his parents. Let Joshua not be intimidated when he returns to bike riding, but may he once again enjoy and delight in the wonders You set before him.
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, may it be thus, O Lord, may it be thus, Amen.

Oh my gosh. My thoughts are with him. I had something like that happen to me when I was a little boy - the front fork on my bike broke and I planted my face in the asphalt too. Fortunately, all I lost was a small piece of my front tooth.
My hopes and prayers that the litle guy gets through this OK with as little scarring as possible.

Don't worry about the post.
Prayers up!

Thanks Bear_Slayer - that ROCKS!
Thank you EVERYONE, so much. Joshua got stiched up by a plastic surgeon last night, got moved to a room this morning, recalls some of the ambulance ride and told his parents the doctors/nurses are nice. Also said he's never riding a bike again, but I give him a month. :-D I want to find some angel-wing decals for his helmet, which he (needless to say) will not be riding without again.
With gratitude,
