The FBI said one search warrant was being executed in the Liberty City area of Miami. Officials said no weapons or bomb-making materials had been found in the searches so far.
"We are conducting a number of arrests and searches, and we'll have more about that when the operation is completed, probably tomorrow morning," FBI Director Robert Mueller told CNN's Larry King in an interview to be broadcast Thursday.

Yes. I lived in Miami Beach and had lots of freinds in Liberty City at the time.
We walked up on the Causeway bridges and watched the city burn.
I'm still reading through posts so I don't know if you got response or not, but my local FOX News Channel (WFXS - CH.55 - Wausau) just had this as their lead story and they mentioned the plot involved the FBI building in Miami, as well as the Sears Tower.
I agree with your assessment of Jayna's book. A real eye opener for me as I read it just after the OU bombing... lots of eerie coincidences comparing her book to some of the research I did concerning names appearing in the press after the OU event.

I lived in Miami and S. Fla for many years .. Liberty City is a crime-ridden, terrifying PIT, and the Liberty City riots were horrific ... and guess where I am now: Chicago. God bless the FBI! I'll be glued to the briefing tomorrow.

Four white police officers were acquitted by an all-white jury in the death of McDuffie, a black Miami insurance agent. McDuffie, a former Marine, had been fatally beaten while handcuffed after a police chase by a group of white police officers, who then tried to cover it up as an accident.
The verdict, coming as the black community's relationship with law enforcement reached an all-time low, sent people pouring into the streets. A three-day rampage of fury and grief followed, escalating with frightening speed in Liberty City, the Black Grove, Overtown and Brownsville, killing 18 people, costing 3,000 jobs and causing $100 million in damage.
Kulp, 22, was one of the first victims, a white man stumbling into the disturbance. He was beaten, shot, stabbed and run over by another motorist after a car driven by his brother veered out of control and hit a young black girl on 62nd Street.
''You had very, very angry people on the streets during those years,'' said Robert Simms, director of the Community Relations Board in 1980. 'By the time McDuffie happened, the precedent was set: `When politicians start messing with us, let's get it on.' The verdict was seen as an injustice. And so the riots in 1980 were on.''
VIOLENCE SPREAD
Even with 25 years of perspective, the magnitude is still stunning. Cars burned with victims inside, and black plumes of smoke could be seen 15 miles away. A curfew covered 52 square miles, with lawlessness reaching all the way to the Metro Justice Building downtown, where a rally turned into more rioting. Police cars were torched, the National Guard was called in, and an entire country watched the hellish panorama that was the Miami skyline."

There is a huge mosque in Irving (Texas) that I drive by frequently. The day it opened, the crowds were so large they had to have policemen directing traffic.
Oddly enough, I have never seen anyone there since. No signs of activity, no cars in the parking lot, nada.
I don't know when they hold their services, so maybe I just missed them.
Irving is the multi-cultural center of the world. At least it seems so.

No you're right, it wasn't part of the original articles on AP or Reuters either.
It was strange because I first saw this on a blog posting and the blogger (can't remember which now) mentioned the Sears Tower, but none of the articles I could find mentioned locations for their plot plans. This was within say 15-20 minutes from the break in the story... I couldn't find confirmation for the sears tower thing at all at least not around 6:30-7pm when I searched further.
Then I heard my local news just a few minutes ago, and they stated what I said. It's weird to me how all of the time these little facts seem to appear and disappear in reporting regarding terrorism...

I just replied to SE Mom in post #344 regarding when I first heard of the Sears Tower connection. As I said in that post - it's weird cause it seems details like this seem to appear, disappear, and appear again in any reporting surrounding terrorism related events.
but I use to do home visits in Liberty City. I know the area well. It is not a hot bed of terrorism, nor is it the sort of place that terrorists like Atta want to live. Way too low budget and it takes to long too get into Section 8 housing anyway
