Military: At Least One Kidnapped Soldier Beheaded

POSTED: 2:58 pm EDT June 21, 2006 UPDATED: 3:17 pm EDT June 21, 2006

PENTAGON -- A defense official in Washington said militants beheaded at least one and maybe both of the soldiers who vanished in Iraq Friday.

The description confirms fears raised by U.S. and Iraqi officials who said the bodies were mutilated. A final report on the bodies hasn't been released formally.

A posting on a militant Web site Tuesday said al-Qaida-in-Iraq's new leader had "slaughtered" the soldiers. The language in the statement suggested beheading.

The remains are due at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware Wednesday for DNA testing to confirm the identities.

The bodies are believed to be those of Pfc. Kristian Menchaca and Pfc. Thomas Tucker.

The bodies of Menchaca of and Tucker were found late Monday near Youssifiyah. That's about 12 miles south of Baghdad.

Those guys had to know what would happen if they were taken prisoner. I can't imagine surrendering to the insurgents. I told all of the guys in my squad when we were over there that we had to make sure nobody was captured, even if it meant putting a bullet in your best friend's head. At least then it would be quick and painless. I can't imagine sitting there for however long, thinking, "Well this is how it ends, they're gonna cut my head off."

These Islamo-terrorists are barbaric bastards and it's time our leaders in Washington realize it and stop the conroversy over pulling our troops out of Iraq and unite to stay the course for their defeat.

I agree hit them so hard they pee their pants just thinking about what the American can do. Keep the friggin politicians and left wing nuts out of it. I would also put a bridle in the news people over there. Terminate insurgents/terrorist with extreme prejudice.

That part of the world only knows peace at the point of a gun.

- We defeated an enemy militarily.
- We eliminated and captured their leaders.
- Now we should give those remaining enough arms to clamp things down on their own, so we can GET THE HELL OUT!

- The end-game will be decided by the Iraqis themselves. - They will have to declare martial law, suspend rights, sweep and round up thousands until they get true control of their country.

In my opinion, we should be long gone before then.

No. Marines should not be the IRAQI 'police', which sadly, after 3 years of 'winning' the war, are still playing out this role.

Don't hold your breath. Murtha's spin will be that this happened because, as he said, the troops are spread so thin they couldn't even man a roadblock. Wait and see.

I have wondered how they were captured, because I can't imagine them just being bundled into a car the way the Iraqi witness said they were. Perhaps they were already badly wounded and couldn't fight.

It seems as if this attack was set up by someone who watched them and knew their routine (having a routine is always a fatal mistake), and I was wondering if there was perhaps someone in the group they recognized and considered a guarantee of safety. After what we've heard about the Iraqi guards shooting our soldiers on a joint patrol a couple of years ago, I would find it very hard to trust the Iraqis. I hope I'm wrong.

I was reading the E.D. Hill thread and followed a link to the Fox site. When I finished reading that, I went to the CAIR site. There isn't a single word on the entire site about the murder and mutilation of these boys. I called their office @202-488-8787 and spoke to an impossibly rude woman who said that they just haven't gotten around to making a statement yet. I told her that it really wasn't so much about politics or religion, it is just plain decency to say a few words of condolence. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!

Does anyone recall which Congressman's wife was so creeped out by her CAIR neighbors in D.C. that she actually moved?
That's something I'd like to go back and read, given that I just spoke to one of the CAIR representatives, and I could just hear the contempt dripping from her voice.

The Lefties have once again pulled the wool over our eyes. We are all looking at the wrong people to get out of this country. The real fifth column is the Muslim terrorist...and they are all terrorists, no mistake. Get them out and keep them out.

I agree totally with you but how can it be done. Sometimes I get so tired to all liberals-socialists & leftest politicians. I feel I get nowhere e-mailing Senator Mary Landrieu because she does what she wants anyway and sends me letters defending her positions. Do you have any suggestions whre we can have the most effect. I was literally shaking with anger when I read our soldiers were tortured and dismembered and defiled. My God, how satanic these file creatures are. What can be done????

I agree with you. This war should have been over 2 1/2 years ago. Saddam should have been turned over to the Iraqi people at room temperature. We can't leave until he's executed, unfortunately.

Bomb the Sunni triangle. Keep the press there until we do that. Let them be shocked and awed. I'm tired of our media traitors and our government traitors. They need to experience our might. We need to take our country back. Release our men in Camp Pendleton - now.

We need to show the world that no one can trample on us or our military. The world has to see that we are tough and strong and we won't take any crap from anyone.

If you don't have car flags, get one and put it proudly on your car. Support this country.

Now, if only our President would do the same.

I kept thinking about this all last night. I know these guys volunteered, but you can't tell me that every kid doesn't think he's invincible. Until it was actually happening to them, I bet they thought there would be a way out.

It's one thing to be captured and detained as a POW, but what do you do with an enemy like this? How do you stop yourself from wanting to level whole towns in reprisal?
