TALLAHASSEE, Fla. A guard at a federal detention center opened fire as investigators came to arrest him and five other guards Wednesday, starting a gunfight that killed two people and wounded another, the FBI said.

Pun Intended?
Please, some of us have to eat lunch at our desks!
Another example of why only citizens should have guns and not government.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Latin for:
Who is to guard the guards themselves?
There are a lot of people who live in trailer parks that are on their way up the ladder and this is just a way of making ends meet. They're biding their time and making the best of a bad situation and they'll soon move on beyond the trailer parks.
The other group consists of those who could win a half million$ in the lottery and their first purchase would be a double-wide. They are the true "Trailer-Parkians".
What is that? A full length bulletproof vest or a bad Battlestar Galactica wardrobe from ebay?
I can't believe they couldn't keep their one-eyed-dragons in their cages! Who'd a thunk it? /sarc
Do you have a link and source for the update?
Interesting. Hard to sympathize when the Federal government will not control illegal immigration, excessively taxes us, gives themselves raises in good times and bad (Congress), etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. The guards were wrong -- no argument -- but the outrage of injustice from the Federal government produces little sympathy.
Oh, and the part about "Never threaten anyone..." came in to play here. The "Inspector General" did not expect the guards to be armed. Suprise!

Because prison guards are never armed if they are in a location where prisoners might be able to grab the weapon.
Do Federal prisons allow weapons inside? I worked 23 years in New York State prisons and no weapons were allowed down inside...ever. Weapons were only on wall towers and vehicle patrol outside the fence.
The agents were not expecting the prison guards to be armed, the law enforcement official told the AP, though he could not immediately explain why.
Just damn.
You're kidding, right?
The sex of the miscreants is not the problem..
The CHARACTER of the miscreant guards is the problem....
Federal Employees, with responsibilities such as this -- should be capable of lawful behavior and keeping their dicks in their pants while on duty.....
Semper Fi
Not kidding at all.
While I agree with your comments, it is a great deal easier to sort applicants for the position by their sex than by their strength of character.
Per your signoff: The Marines are the only branch of the military that has sex-segregated basic training. All others have integrated basic, and have had sex scandals as a result.
Going by your criteria, apparently the Marine brass don't think they can find potential drill instructors with the ability to keep their pants zipped while on duty.
Or perhaps they recognize that attempting to win an argument with biology is not a good idea.
While the guards involved here should be punished to the fullest extent, I would be surprised if the idea wasn't brought up by inmates who wanted the booze, etc. Leaving men in constant contact with women coming on to them is not a good idea. (If you want the men to continue to think straight.)
William "Buddy" Sentner. When injustice prevails, it is very difficult to have ANY sympathy for fellows like the late Mr. Sentner. Yes, the guards were wrong. However, when the FBI, the ATF, CPS (Children's Protective Services), etc. overstep their bounds, they create deep-seated anger which requires justice. Yes, the guards will be tried and punished appropriately. When the public becomes fed up with official injustice, though, the amount of cooperation over the long term with authorities to find criminals will come to zero.
And worst of all, the Federal government has not and will not take lawful action regarding illegal immigration. They are de facto handing our country over to a foreign entity -- culturally and religiously. It is inexcusable and leaves me to not care what happens to any of them as the overall government has betrayed those of us who have paid taxes all of our lives and now have difficulty living, rearing our children due to their constant meddling, taxation, regulation and apathy about our welfare. The government has NO RIGHT to tell me how to handle MY children when my children excel on standardized tests and in almost every activity in which they are involved and are moral and upright individuals whose character and motivation is praised by every teacher who teaches them.
Surely you are NOT suggesting that Mr. Sentner (who was doing his job) deserved to be shot by the person he was serving an lawful arrest warrant to? As a law enforcement officer myself I take great offense to that suggestion, I hate "bad cops" as much as any other citizen does.. please do not paint all of us in the law enforcement proffession with such a broad brush. Direct your anger towards the "BAD COPS" not the ones doing their job.
