The Iraqi gov't needs to wake up their populace and let them be armed. If the gov't can't protect everybody all the time, the people need to be capable of protecting themselves. A small armed band facing 80 Colt 45s would feel different than a small armed band facing 80 unarmed civilians.

They are armed RightWhale far more then Americans are.

The problem is very simple there isn't enough policing forces in Iraq.

How do you get 80 people to the 2nd location? There had to be tons of the armed men to pull this off. This is not making any sense.

I think that the populace is armed. I remember an NRA article stating that the second amendment works in Iraq very nicely.

I don't know if the contract workers are armed, though.

Allegra? What do you know?

All Iraqis are permitted to have an AK-47 with one magazine of ammunition. Many Iraqis, though, have much more than a mere 30 rounds. Iraq is considered to be one of the most heavily-armed countries in the world, in terms in citizen gun ownership.

"The Iraqi gov't needs to wake up their populace and let them be armed. If the gov't can't protect everybody all the time, the people need to be capable of protecting themselves."

That's it; now it makes sense!

It's to convince the Iraqi people their government and security forces cannot protect them, so they'll go back to the dubious protections of armed malitias. Maliki's plan will be shown up as a failure by the mass media, which will further crucify the president.

If I remember correctly Iraqis are all allowed to own one AK47 and ammo, maybe someone else can back me up or correct me on this.

Iraq is already one of the most heavily-armed countries in the world, and in many areas there is very little "law enforcement" to speak of.

Most people have no idea how docile and helpless a population can be after it's been exposed to nanny-state socialism in an urban setting for so like.
