WASHINGTON, D.C., June 20, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) A pro-homosexual group known as Center for the Study of Sexual Minorities in the Military (CSSMM), a think tank at the University of California, Santa Barbara, claims to have unearthed a current Pentagon document that lists homosexuality as a psychological disorder.
According to the CSSMM the Department of Defense Instruction that so categorizes homosexuality was signed by the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness in 1996 and re-certified as "current" in 2003.
Although homosexuality has traditionally been considered a psychological disorder the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses over thirty years ago, claiming that it "implies no impairment in judgment, stability, reliability, or general social and vocational capabilities." The APAs decision, however, has been the subject of criticism in recent years with some alleging that the 1973 move to remove homosexuality from the list of disorders was highly influenced by homosexual activism and not objective scientific data (http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/feb/06020902.html).
The CSSMM responded to what it has called an outdated and offensive classification of homosexuality by issuing a report card on the military, giving it 'F's' in four out of five categories, including "Mental Health Classification," "Anti-gay Harassment and Command Climate," "Evidence-Based Assessment of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'" and "Family Support."
Dr. Aaron Belkin, director of CSSMM, expressed grave concern that the military continues to list homosexuality as a mental illness. "It's unclear why a DoD document would classify homosexuality as a mental disorder over thirty years after the psychiatric community acknowledged this is a mistake," said Dr. Belkin. The vast majority of other military documents no longer list homosexuality as a mental disorder.
Current military policy still requires the discharge of members who openly profess their homosexuality, although the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy forbids recruiters from inquiring into the sexual activities or preferences of the recruit. However, the number of discharges from the military on account of homosexuality have dramatically increased in the last number of years as members have increasingly openly challenged the policy. The Supreme Court has many times over refused to hear cases challenging the constitutionality of the policy.
A 1998 report on the effectiveness of the militarys policies concluded that service by those who have a propensity to engage in homosexual conduct creates an unacceptable risk to morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion, and that the long-standing prohibition of homosexual conduct therefore continues to be necessary in the unique circumstances of military service.
Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Jeremy M. Martin said the offending document is under review.

Well, I guess you have to look at it from the prospective of an army, anyone's army, homosexuals do not produce soldiers..
That's been the case for at least forty years that I know of. Bestiality, at least in the absence of women, has long been regarded as a matter of "any port in a storm." Prison homosexuality, for this reason, relates to bestiality rather than 'classic' homosexuality.
The Pentagon is right.
This is a big problem for the pseudosciences that claim to be on par with hard science.
Homosexuality is a disorder, that is if you define a disorder as a deviation from the physiological design for human sexuality.
Anyone who supports homosexuality has abdicated their ability to reason logically.
The APA is a postmodern group of philosophers, not scientists.
I agree 100 percent. I had an interest in a girl in high school who turned out to be homosexual. She was molested by her father.
I have nothing personal against homosexuals as individuals. I had a cordial relationship with the "Gay Rights" group on campus in college, even though I was their most vocal opponent, because I engaged them as people. All of the sudden, it wasn't personal anymore. The president of the group said he was genuinely sad to see me graduate because although he disagreed with me, he respected my personal integrity.
My attitude about homosexuality is akin to my attitude about smoking. I don't like the behavior, but I am not about to reject an individual because of their behavior if they have good character otherwise.
These folks don't seem to get the crux of the issue: their arrogant attitude.
It would be akin to the schizophrenic community getting schizophrenia removed from the APA manual. French homosexual philospher Michel Focault argued schizophrenics were simply misunderstood and not sick.
Any honest scientist would examine the "studies" the APA cited to remove homosexuality from the DSM and see they were so riddled full of errors as to be invalid.
Tell me about it. Every homosexual I have ever met, and I have met many has conformed with the worst stereotypes.
Homoarrgance, not homophobia, is the real problem.
My first wife was raped when she was 16. Bottled it up inside. After 10 years of marriage it started to come out. She was deathly afraid of any man, to include me. Wouldn't get help.
Eventually, after we divorced, she found a girlfriend, sued me, alleging that my second wife and I were going to molest the children, and ran me enough legal hoops that I consumed my savings. I moved away after not seeing the kids for 2 years. That moving away at least kept her from being stressed out about me all the time.
So long as I am not around, she is pretty sane. I am raising my kids from the second marriage. Not happily ever after, but the kids are smart, and making good progress.
Several months ago in the New Oxford Review there was an article about a man that had led a homosexual lifestyle, repented and came to the Church. He told a harrowing story of a drug culture infatuated with youth, beauty and multiple sexual partners. I think it showed how these people are dealing with mental issues.
Whoa! You've been through a lot. Be praying for things to turn happier for you.
I am a journalist, abiet a conservative one, and years ago I worked with members of ACT UP (It was an alliance of convenience.) to expose the San Francisco Health Department's
funneling of CDC AIDS grant money to homosexual groups. The money was then used to fund "fisting" and "flirting" classes for homosexual men with AIDS.
These ACT UP members couldn't even get the bureaucracy to help them subsidize the expensive AIDS drugs they needed to survive. I worked with them out of Christian charity for the sick and the dying. I was less concerned with their sins than with their lives.
One of these ACT UP members confided in me about the bathrooms in one of the "Gay" Clubs he had frequented where homosexuals had sex with complete strangers. It sickened him in retrospect because of what had happened to him.
I later discovered that my contact ran a place where homosexuals could have sex orgies without condoms.
My first-hand experience with homosexuals has been overwhelimingly negative. Their narcissism, pervasive hedonism and nihilism is hardly the kind of values we need transmitted to the rest of society.
I think we have basically seen the homosexualization of heterosexuality since the 1960s. Sex for fun, not family. Multiple partnerships. the sexualization of everything.
Prior to the 1960s, outside of Bohemian groups, these attitudes were the almost exclusive hallmark of homosexuals in America.
Yeah, you've got them pegged accurately.
In my hometown, still have family there, they told me a sad story. There was an older neighborhood that the gay/lesbian people took over. They renovated the older homes and set up a neighborhood association. They started picking on and trying to evict older residents out of their homes that couldn't afford to renovate their property. Some of these people were elderly. It got so heated it ended up on Fox News and my family called me to tell me to turn on the television. Several of the houses in the neighborhood had rainbow banners draped across the front porches! Ugh...
As I sat there watching a poor elderly woman crying her eyes out over the harassment she had received at their hands I thought, "What a bunch of selfish, hateful people."
If the situation had been reversed, they would have had the ACLU, lawyers, the media all jumping up and down to defend them.
I am told that the "Sex in the City" television series showed heterosexual women acting and talking like homosexual men.
Television thrives on novelty. If you are going to sit in the same room, at the same time, with the same people, and watch the same little box, you better have something different on!
The tale is told of an odd uncle, who came to visit. He told inappropriate stories to the children, his grasp of facts was shakey at best, or horribly wrong at worst, and through his energy and shear volume, he dominated all conversations in the house. He also constantly encouraged spending too much money on the merest trifles.
Except for it wasn't an uncle, it was television.
The homosexual activists' gift to American popular culture is a malignant, self-effacing narcissism, something many people are too stupid to realize.
everything I have to say on this issue is in my tagline.
