AP NewsBreak: Probe finds Iraqi troops killed 2 American soldiers

Associated Press

Two California soldiers shot to death in Iraq in 2004 were murdered by Iraqi civil-defense officers patrolling with them, military investigators have found.

The deaths of Army Spc. Patrick R. McCaffrey Sr., 34, of Tracy and 1st Lt. Andre D. Tyson, 33, of Riverside were originally attributed to an ambush during a patrol near Balad, Iraq, on June 22, 2004.

But the Army's Criminal Investigation Division concluded there was foul play after probing the circumstances for several months.

Sad but quite possible considering the nature of war.

I suppose it will give the Democratic cowards yet another talking point this summer and fall.

I heard this a while ago.

This is back when the police forces were in their infancy and some insurgents infiltrated the program.

That was 2 years ago.

Interesting timing with todays discovery of the two recently-kidnapped soldiers having been mutilated beyond recognition and then booby-trapped. Wonder if the media will use this story from 2004 to blow over todays story that would result in people rallying around the troops more..........nah, they wouldn't do that would they?

Inject them with a bit of colored water, tell them it's hogs blood and send them to the gallows and set them free. Telling them that whether they choose to live or kill themselves it wouldn't matter -- they are now and forever "impure".

Yes, 2 years ago, but we all know the 'Rat moonbats will go on an "I told ya so" binge and use it for an excuse to demand we bring the troops home.

Bet we don't hear as much about this as we do about US troops who were accused of killing 3 Iraqis.

Nadia McCaffrey has become a vocal critic of the war in Iraq, and said her son had reservations about it too, though he served well and was promoted posthumously to sergeant.

"I really want this story to come out, I want people to know what happened to my son," she said. "There is no doubt to me that this (ambushes by attached Iraqi units) is still happening to soldiers today, but our chain of command is awfully reckless; they don't seem to give a damn about what's happening to soldiers."

Oh gawd, not another one of these "infallability doctrine" fools. How dare her call our commanders "reckless?" If they were, I guarantee you Ramadi and Youssefiah would be Al Qaeda free right now instead of being Al Qaeda playgrounds.

And what's her evidence this has happened to others? Does she REALLY think our soldiers would be content to cover something like this up if it happened on a regular basis? Come on lady. And why is it this incident as well as the other two mentioned in the article managed to avoid cover up? Just another pathetic angle of attack against the war effort by a lefty looney tune using her victim status as cover, an attack which slanders our Iraqi allies who for the most part are doing a stellar job stepping up to the plate. How dare you witch??!

Well, the Iraqi's who shot our guys must have been Jewish Iraqi's or maybe Hindu Iraqi's. I mean, we all know Islam is the "religion of peace" right?

Here's a flash from the past from Big Lizards that tells a lot:

Last month, another top officer who served in Iraq, retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, wrote an opinion piece for the New York Times in which he called Rumsfeld ''incompetent strategically, operationally and tactically.'' Eaton, who oversaw the training of Iraqi army troops in 2003-2004, said that ''Mr. Rumsfeld must step down.''

Um... wasn't 2003 and 2004 the period during which our training of the Iraqi Army was completely botched? There was a lot of controversy at the time among those who thought we should have just kept the Baathist Iraqi Army and put new commanders in charge. The training during this period was a disaster, with Iraqi Army units literally fleeing in panic from the insurgents and the terrorists, the first Fallujah campaign (where the Iraqi Army let Zarqawi and his al-Qaeda In Mesopotamia escape), and so forth.

I don't grant MG Eaton much credibility to talk about what Rumsfeld is doing wrong!

Eaton was in charge of training the Iraqis who murdered our soldiers.

He's also one of the six Generals who are stabbing President Bush in the Back.

Coincidence or CYA?
