BAGHDAD, Iraq - The bodies of two U.S. soldiers have been found near where the men went missing, a senior Iraqi military official said Tuesday, but the U.S. military said it could not confirm the report.

Maj. Gen. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed said the bodies of Army Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Army Pfc. Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore., were found on a street near a power plant in the town of Youssifiyah, just south of Baghdad.

U.S. Maj. Doug Powell said he could not confirm the report.

The soldiers came under attack Friday at a traffic checkpoint near Youssifiyah. A third soldier, Spc. David J. Babineau, 25, of Springfield, Mass., was killed in the attack. All three were from the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, Ky

Watch the Democrats use this moron of an uncle. "I think the U.S. was too slow to react to this. Because the U.S. did not have a plan in place, my nephew has paid with his life."

The Uncle complains there's no "plan" to protect US Forces who are captured?

Like Heck there isn't.

We're part of the Geneva/Hague conventions.

EVERYONE agrees not to kill POWS.

EVERYONE agrees not to TORTURE AND MUTILATE POWS!

Why in hell would Lauer continue with the stupid interview 15 minutes after the bodies were announced found? The uncle was very incoherent and made little sense.

That aspect absolutely terrifiesme.
The iraqi butchers are known to be horrendously vile with torture. I pray these brave abducted soldiers died a quick and merciful death.

It has already been reported that they were tortured and mutilated.

One report also says beheaded.

al Qaeda and the terorists who claim affiliation are not part of the Geneva Convention.

At least when we capture them, in most cases, they get virtually the same protections even though not required by any treaty...just our basic sense of decency. But they do not offer decency and civility to us.

No doubt video will be forthcoming.

I also have no doubt the tactic will be used again.

"I think the U.S. was too slow to react to this. Because the U.S. did not have a plan in place, my nephew has paid with his life."

Perhaps the soldiers hesitated to defend themselves because they were afraid Murtha would accuse the whole army of murdering civilians in cold blood.

Yes, sounds like Sheehan thinking. How can anyone protect someone who is not within their control? Highly irrational and the blame-game has already started. Sad that people have degenerated to a state of gross ignorance about what it means to be in a war. How many American G.I.s were captured during WW2? -- and how many whiners and blamers did we see in the media??

EVERYONE agrees not to TORTURE AND MUTILATE POWS!

Everyone who isn't a twelfth-century savage, that is. Which leaves al-Qaida out.

Hard to get too worked up over the "atrocity" at Haditha when you're confronted with something like this.

Prayers for the fasmilies and prayers for the media vultures who will descend upon this grieving family, especially deliciously anti-Bush uncle, with microphones and cameras.

There are currently three soldiers being charged by the Army for murder. If the Geneva conventions don't apply to Al Qaeda, then it shouldn't apply to our soldiers and these three should be released immediately. And then we commence wiping out whole towns and villages in the so-called "Triangle of Death" ...

We aren't facing an army in the field. Its fine to insist that the Terrorists quit acting poorly but they are Terrorists. We just have to deal.

This situation isn't new. The US has been fighting and winning against this sort of situation for years. Its nice when you can fight an army that "plays by the rules" but this is increasingly unlikely. All warfare against the US is nearly asymmetric because, frankly, if you try to go toe to toe against our forces, they will hand you your hat.

They are attempting the only battle that has a hope of winning. To cause the people of the US to despair and give up and let them win by default. It banks on the generosity and humanity of the US to not just go ape and start wiping out populations to kill the bad guys. SO ultimately, this style of warfare depends on the goodness of the US forces to allow them to live another day by hiding behind the innocent and near innocent as shields.

Why, because if you go up against our armed forces in the field like in a real shooting war, the US stands prepared to rain hell and death in any measure on your head. People are not stupid. So, this is a solution. Not a good solution because it is plainly evil. But, frankly this is the game of evil men doing evil things to achieve evil ends so its not a surprise.

Nevertheless, Black Jack Pershing faced as determined a bunch of Jihadis in the Philippines in the early 1900's and defeated them utterly. So the rules of engagement and tactics are almost as old as time, the US knows how to win. We just want more than that now.. we want to win without losing our soldiers in the process. Its nice that to the largest extent we can and do. Something to shine with pride about even as we mourn the loss of these brave young men.
