Jacob admitted that he has not ironed out details of his proposed immigration FastPass, styled after the pass used at Disneyland. Park visitors can go to a ride, obtain a FastPass, and then return during a specific time and go to the front of the line. Cannon pressed him on which illegal aliens would qualify for a FastPass. Jacob said it would not be for everyone, only those who had been in America for 10 to 20 years. If they've actually been here that long, show us the five Social Security numbers you've used, get an affidavit from your wife and children, you get a FastPass." "It sounds like what some supporting you call an amnesty," said Cannon, who pushed for additional details. "I don't know," Jacob said. "I still have to work that out." "Everybody in Utah wants to know where you stand on this issue," Cannon said. Patterson said the next week will be an interesting study in intraparty campaigning. "By criticizing the president, Mr. Jacob effectively opens the door for Rep. Cannon to say, agree with him or disagree with him, 'I stand by the president.' That's a fairly effective appeal in (a primary), but the core critics on this issue aren't going to be deterred by that."

Cannon should make the most of this. Jacob is clearly attempting to fashion his policies on the fly, in contrast to a ten year Congressman with a 97 ACU rating.
You really shouldn't talk about tom tancredo like that behind his back.
Yep, but some conservatives will only listen to what they want to hear and not look at the actions of the candidate(ala Clinton middle class tax cut,etc.etc.)
...
Cannon's horrible immigration record in enough to know Jacob can't be worse.

Oh, yeah?
I hate to say "I told you so"...
I read the article and I didn't see any "ripping" going on.
More Dane BS
Sorry, Jacob has the easiest campaign strategy in the history of time itself and he's screwing it up.
And remember that this is just what he's saying, never having to be in office. I suspect he will compromise with much more.
He'll say that Sensennbrenner has been paid off by Tancredo or some similiar nonsense.
The illegals who have been here since the 1970s and 80s and have established families, residencies, and businesses....where are they going to go?
Even if an enforcement-only bill is passed the problem is going to have to be dealt with sooner or later.
LOL!
In your opinion, Jacob amnesty "realistic", Chris Cannon's 97 lifetime ACU rating makes him akin to the anti-christ.
Actually that is the Deseret News's headline. The words in parenthesis are my comments, which are true.
I think you make an excellent point. You have to be realistic about this entire situation. I, personally, don't see any reason to amnestize anyone (if they've been doing OK so far, why not let it continue, if they don't like it, they can head back south with no issues).
But the anti-Cannonites were, just a few hours ago, so absolutist. Do you realize how silly it sounds to say that Cannon -- an otherwise rock-solid conservative -- must be replaced by a guy whose views differ only on the margins on the big issue that is supposed to be the reason to ditch Cannon?
It's all moot anyway.
Assuming he wins the primary, if Chris Cannon starts spewing his amnesty schemes, this election will be his last one. If House Republicans don't smack him down, then Utah conservatives, having been betrayed, surely will.
Of course, if he does vote for strict border enforcement, you'll be foaming at the mouth and complaining that Tancredo pricked a voo-doo doll likeness of Cannon to force him to vote that way.
Let me guess: You gleefully ran with the media spin too, knowing that as a FReeper you are trained to spot these headlines.
Which begs the next question: Are you really a FReeper?
Well if posting the headline in the Deseret News makes me a DUmmie in your eyes, so be it, I won't lose any sleep over it.
Notice the silence from the tnacredo/bay buchanites on this thread.
(1) You invoke the tnacredo/bay buchanites like it is a talisman or something. Your little straw man stuffed doll to cuddle. The vast majority of freepers are against amnesty, and for all the influence Bay Buchanan has, a search would reveal that the vast majority of references to Bay Buchanan on FR would be Dane's.
(2) Any silence you perceive might be from those who despair at getting any straight answer from you, or from any of your FROBL cohorts.
So here is an opportunity to show otherwise:
Dane, what is your particular objection to the Disneyland pass? Is that it would be ineffective or subject to fraud? Is it that Jacob proposed it?
