He was not. His period of service occurred during the same time as the first Gulf war, but Kos himself stated in an article earlier this year that he "missed deploying to the Gulf War by a hair." Wow! Glad someone got that! I actually had a modicum of respect for the guy after I read that he said "served during the Gulf War", leaving the impression he was a participant. Now I REALLY feel that he is a POS.
Heck, I served during the Gulf War - in Berlin.

I wore combat boots.
That's funny, so does his mother.

More intentional deception from the left...which is, of course, no surprise. Once one removes morality from being an issue then lying is just fine...hence the democrat party's common mode of operation. By his definition I'm a vietnam vet...but I wasn't sent to Vietnam, and simply served in 1975. (although something like 3 months after the era cut off). Too bad I'm not a leftist...I could lie and say I'm a viet nam vet and get better benefits.

I love his attempt to backpedal and dissemble: "What I can do is I can say the fact is the reason, the context for that quote, was solidarity with my brothers and sisters in arms, Marines and soldiers."
That first part is pure BS.
"The fact is the reason"?
C'mon, he should know better than to say something like that as that just screams BS.

I wore combat boots. Big deal. All those lefties wore Doc Martens back then.

Mr. Daily Kos is el salvadoran. Though born in the USA he grew up in that south american country.
He is trying to conceal his laaaaateeeeno extraction for some reason.

Timothy McVeigh served "during the Gulf War" as well, and he was a POS too.

So the fact that he served during a time of war counts even though he did not get deployed, but could have or almost did.
Gee....this is a bit troubling for them. Based on that logic, they'll have to reconsider Bush's service in the TANG during Vietnam.

>>>Timothy McVeigh served "during the Gulf War" as well, and he was a POS too.<<<
Actually, McVeigh served in the Gulf War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Personally, I served during the Vietnam War, but never served in the war zone.

Heck, I served during the Gulf War - in Berlin. For that matter, so did I! Of course, I was in ROTC in college, but the principle is the same!
Markos Moulitsas is just a few steps beneath contemptible. A few more idiotic statements like that, and he will sink below Murtha and Kerry into the despicable category.

Kos Blogger That about sums it up. Looks like we have a new potential colloquialism. Whenever you see someone do or say something stupid, an appropriate reply would be:
"What a Kos Blogger...."

They're bandying their alleged military service about quite a bit lately, aren't they? Kerry's entire campaign was "I served in Vietnam" and the Left was actually surprised when we attacked him on WHAT HIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN WAS ABOUT.
Then there are the fake soldiers "confessing" to war crimes in Iraq. Now this.
