N. Korean leadership ordered its citizen to raise their flag and listen to their (government) communique from TV in the evening, according to Sankei Shimbun (of Japan), quoting Japanese government sources.

So, sum it up for us. Do we have the technology to shoot it down, if need be?

I know! Let's all think "Dr. Strangelove" ....Kim-a-ling-a-ding-dong looks like he could play the Peter Sellers part pretty well...does he have a hand that has a mind of its own? Does he even have a mind?

Off topic: A terrific new freeper, Ikez78, has uncovered some interesting information; it's fully sourced here:

Big news last night in the Saddam - al Qaeda connection. al Baghdadi is a man leading the insurgency in Iraq currently. He was a Republican Guard officer for Saddam, companion of Zarqawi since the start of the war AND HAS BEEN FRIENDS WITH BIN LADEN SINCE MEETING HIM IN AFGHANISTAN http://markeichenlaub.blogspot.com/2006/06/abu-abdullah-rashid-al-baghdadi-former.html

Very credible. He was on California radio today, has given speeches at colleges, and is writing a book.

He's gotten some astounding information through FOIA and has shared some of his information with me.

Not sure about CNN or MSNBC- but FOX has covered it- though not closely- all day. But the extent of their coverage was the discussions between the US and Japan, huddled diplomats wringing hands...vague threats of going to the (don't laugh now) UN Security Council...

Pretty amazing when you condsider what we're hearing from FReepers in the Pacific, isn't it?

I'm betting they're announcing a successor to the (now admittedly) ailing Kim Jon Il. (Sounds like an uncle of Superman.)

The Useless Nations will evaporate along with this launch. Therefore, it is with mixed emotions that many of us will watch this.

Ok I've been waiting to do my nostradamus interpersonation. Your post seems a good lead-in.

Monsters revealed from the sea.

Mushrooms grow on sand

A populous nation trembles

The Eagle has devoured the snake

Not that I believe any of it, it just sounds cool. This is just the nk launching another fake sattalite and we won't do jack when some of their junk falls on our land.

The U.S. and Japan both urged North Korea to halt preparations for a test-launch of a long-range missile, after Japanese and South Korean news reports said the North had loaded booster rockets onto a launch pad and could test-fire the missile as early as Sunday.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso warned North Korea on Sunday Tokyo would regard any missile that dropped on Japan as an attack, the Reuters news service reported.

"If it is dropped on Japan, it will complicate the story. It will be regarded as an attack," Aso said on a Fuji TV program.

"The possibility is not zero of a missile dropping on Japan. That's why we are worried," Aso said on the program, according to Reuters.

No I'm not mad. I'm in favor of a preemptive strike. By that I mean destroying this missile on it's launch pad. I don't need millions of lives to be lost in order to prove a point.
