Murtha Jumps the Shark (says we need another Somalia)

Ex-Marine Colonel and current leader of the Cowardice Caucus in the House of Representatives, John Murtha has now made the transition from gutless Congressional peace activist to outright laughingstock. He began his atmospheric rise to liberal icon status by breathlessly intoning the President to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq so that they can be extracted from an Iraqi "civil war".

Not content to merely serve as Defeatist in Chief, Murtha doubled down to be come one of the biggest Blue Falcons in Marine Corps history by prematurely condemning as guilty several of his ex-comrades- Semper Backstabis. Now from the NRO Media Blog via Allah comes this gem from a CNN interview:

MURTHA: The thing that disturbed me and worries me about this whole thing is we can't get [the administration] to change direction. And I said over and over in debate, if you listen to any of it, in Beirut President Reagan changed direction, in Somalia President Clinton changed direction, and yet here, with the troops out there every day, suffering from these explosive devices, and being looked at as occupiers — 80 percent of the people want us out of there — and yet they continue to say, "We're fighting this thing." We're not fighting this. The troops are fighting this thing. That's who's doing the fighting.

Amen to that. Saw it yesterday when it was posted. It's made to be shown in the 12th District, IMO.

Outstanding point. Failing to finish the job just means we have to go back later and do it all over again, and generally at a higher price than if we'd done it right the first time.

Funny, I seem to remember my father drilled me pretty good on that one back in the day. Along with: "the job ain't done till the tools are put away." On second thought, that may apply here, too.

Hearing what Mullah Murtha has to say is about as much fun as finding a box of dead kittens.

wonder if he hates Truman for getting 40 something thousand Americans killed(in 3 years) in a civil war in Korea with no exit plan?

I heard him on the floor the other day and by his account we're not in korea and havn't been since the 60's.

We can do our troops a big favor and send this piece of trash packing in November.

He not only jumped the shark, he is now beating it with a baseball bat and sticking his head in the mouth... what a sad ending to a lackluster career.

Something is very wrong with this man. He is hiding under pressure from something. Maybe he wasn't a war hero ala Kerry or maybe that investigation of his brothers lobbying firm steering millions to a certain company is about to hit the news.

I get the feeling he wears adult diapers. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but he always looks like he has a load in his pants.

Would someone please change his diapers, this cry for publicity is getting annoying.

I'm an ex-serviceman and one thing I have been puzzled with is that how can a 38 year veteran only be a bird Colonel. I know he spent a lot of time in the reserves but come on just being a colonel means that he was passed over a bunch of times. Being passed over in the regular Marines would mean a halt to your career. Which looks like what happened here. When some one was passed over it was because no one liked them or they did something the higher ups considered terrible but could not charge him with anything under the UCMJ. I knew of a colonel that was fired because he had an affair with a female Master Sergeant. This was before sexual harassment became a big deal. I wonder....
