Ex-Marine Colonel and current leader of the Cowardice Caucus in the House of Representatives, John Murtha has now made the transition from gutless Congressional peace activist to outright laughingstock. He began his atmospheric rise to liberal icon status by breathlessly intoning the President to immediately withdraw troops from Iraq so that they can be extracted from an Iraqi "civil war".
Not content to merely serve as Defeatist in Chief, Murtha doubled down to be come one of the biggest Blue Falcons in Marine Corps history by prematurely condemning as guilty several of his ex-comrades- Semper Backstabis. Now from the NRO Media Blog via Allah comes this gem from a CNN interview:
MURTHA: The thing that disturbed me and worries me about this whole thing is we can't get [the administration] to change direction. And I said over and over in debate, if you listen to any of it, in Beirut President Reagan changed direction, in Somalia President Clinton changed direction, and yet here, with the troops out there every day, suffering from these explosive devices, and being looked at as occupiers 80 percent of the people want us out of there and yet they continue to say, "We're fighting this thing." We're not fighting this. The troops are fighting this thing. That's who's doing the fighting.

he's really lost it
Mister Murtha:
"Your lies are like bananas. They come in big yellow bunches." - Leslie Nielsen, "Wrongfully Accused"
you wonder why if 80% of Americans want us out why was the vote in the Senate 93 to 6 to stay?
Hey Murtha, the marines are calling. Something about returning a sword that no longer belongs to you.
Let's end that "80% of the Iraqis want us out of there" nonsense. Murtha leaves out the rest of the statement - they want us out eventually but now right now.
I hate it when this stuff keeps getting repeated and host/reporters don't correct it.

Murtha is not just a left wing nut,
he is nuts period.
This alter kocker needs to be put somewheres where he can no longer do damage
This will make for an interesting topic of discussion on the talk radio shows come Monday.
Is he saying 80% of Americans or 80% of Iraqis? Either way, I don't believe it.
He's definitely screwed up. I actually had a liberal tell me that Murtha should presume the accused marines are innocent until proven otherwise.
heck you have me
wonder if he hates Truman for getting 40 something thousand Americans killed(in 3 years) in a civil war in Korea with no exit plan?
Good question.
Ususal sarcasm off.
Now what the hell does that mean, "jumps the shark?" Not that I'm on the edge of popular culture, but I have no idea how "jumps the shark" equates with "need another Somalia."
LOL. If we could just get Ollie or some other qualified person to use the term Blue Falcon on TV it would be great.
"Jumping the Shark" means going totally over the edge or reaching a point of no return past which all credibility is lost.
Specifically, it refers to the episode of the TV series 'Happy Days' in which the character played by Henry Winkler ("Fonzi") literally jumps over a shark on water skis. For all practical purposes, that event marked the end of the show.

a term to describe a moment when somethin that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity.
Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.

That's three opportunities lost because of the hue and cry of the Godless liberals not to hurt the feelings of the Godless U.N. and their rat infested membership nations!
I hope Move America Forward is able to run their new spot in Murtha's district this summer.
