Add this to the list of things that have gone right lately for President Bush: Americans appear to be drawing closer to his view on the immigration debate.
But that hasn't alleviated the squeeze on Republican candidates in the fall elections. A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows that the party's conservative electoral base remains at odds with broader public opinion on the issue, including sentiment of the nation's swelling Latino population.

I agree with all your points for the most part, and you are certainly entitled to your opinions. Which don't, by the way, contradict my statement that all polls are bogus and should not be used as the foundation of any argument. A point that I would guess you'd agree with.

Graham is saying the status quo is unacceptable but then goes on to imply we need to pass the Senate bill otherwise conservatives will punish them in November. It's just phony baloney coming from the open border mouthpiece.

One thing many people don't get is that we don't have a conservative White House or a conservative majority in Congress. The executive and the majority may be GOP, but that has nothing to do with whether or not they're Conservatives. After all, a compassionate conservative (based upon the current model) is a globalist who wants to share democracy with the world while - come hell or high water. They fit the same profile as the moderate left. Same building, different facade.
That's how we got into our current immigration crisis. We have two parties who's primary leadership are both hell bent on integrating the United States into a single global economic system. Bush promised in the last State of the Union Address that we would lead the world in building a global economy.
Anyone who took him seriously should have been well aware at that time that he was talking about breaking down barriers to trade and the movement of labor that is an absolute requirement to have a fully integrated global economic system.
Those who have been paying attention over the last couple of decades should also have realized that this requires relinquishing national sovereignties and rights to self governance when it comes to trade, labor forces, and economics. A global system can only function effectively by relinquishing national ideology and sovereignty and embracing a global system of law.
If there is any other way to maintain and administer a single global economy, I'd like to hear it.
In a nutshell, that's why we've been allowing illegals to enter our country for so long. The goal is to establish economic parity throughout North America, simultaneous to increasing the number of American citizens who will be sympathetic to the cause of untegrating US/Mexican borders, security, and economies as detailed in the White House's Security and Prosperity Partnership.
If anyone posting on this forum has been listening and digesting for the last 20 years, the short version is that we're being sold out by the trojan horse globalists who run the Dem and GOP parties. They're trampling the Constitution and ridding us of the right to self determination that it promises.
While it is unlikely that all the current illegals will be deported, what needs to be done is to provide incentives to make them leave the United States voluntarily. Among the measures needed include enforcing existing laws prohibiting employers from hiring illegals (virtual dead letters today), taxing private wire transfers to individuals in foreign countries at a 50% rate, compelling local governments to inform the Feds on the legal status of illegals arrested or ticketed (if it works for seatbelts and DWI, this tactic should work here), prohibiting financial institutions from accepting Mexican "councilar cards" as legitimate IDs, and denying any social services to illegals(if various Catholic bishops and Baptist bigwigs want compassion for illegals, let their churches spring for it, rather than the taxpayers), among other measures.
If the incentive for coming to America is taken away or at least lessened, many of the illegals will return to their native lands.
Almost everything Graham says falls into that category. He's as bogus as polls.

On another level, we have witnessed advances of Marxists to power in Latin America, including Venezuela, Brazil, and Bolivia, in the last few years that would have given nightmares to Cold War era Administrations. Granted that Russia is not the power it was 25 years ago (thank you Reagan), there is nonetheless a de facto alliance between Russia, China, Cuba, and the new Marxist nations south of the border. When you consider the ties between Marxists and Muslim radicals, as evidenced by leftist opposition to the Iraqi War domestically and Russian involvement in the Iranian nuclear program, our "blind eye" today to the rise of Marxism in Latin America may well haunt us in the future.
I would be delighted if this Administration applied the same determination in Latin America that it has in the Middle East. The track record of the last five and one half years unfortunately suggests otherwise.
Plus MSM outlets like the WSJ have taken it upon themselves to shape and control public opinion...
People like to be on the winning side regardless of the issue...

Anyone can say that about anything. It dependds on what you want to give on. I happen to think amnesty is such a bad idea that I'm not willing to cave on it. I want them to: Secure the border first. Shut up about amnesty. Follow the laws already on the books. I would be happy for now if they would do THAT.

Anyone who isn't outraged that illegal aliens are allowed to remain in his home country. My allegiance is to the United States and her legal citizens. To whom does your allegiance belong?
