Carlin and Coulter to mix it up on Wednesday's Tonight Show

Either the talent bookers at The Tonight Show are really stupid or they're geniuses. Either of those extremes are the only ways to explain
Wednesday's roster of guests: George Carlin, a comic legend who has been doing caustic observational and issues-oreinted comedy, most of it left-leaning, for over forty years, and Ann Coulter, a conservative pundit with a flair for the inflammatory statement. Carlin will be promoting his work in the new Pixar flick
Cars; Coulter will be promoting her new book.
Recall that just a few days ago Coulter stated that the World Trade Center widows that pushed for the creation of the 9/11 commission were reveling in their fame, and they're enjoying their husbands' deaths. And Carlin has been spending the last ten years or so telling his comedy audiences that the government is corrupt, religions are idiotic, and that the human race is going to kill itself off (yeah, this hasn't exactly been his funniest period, though I still think he is one of the best stand-up comics ever). So let's just say that the two don't see eye-to-eye on anything. At all.
And the paneling format of
The Tonight Show is a perfect environment for some explosive arguments between the two. It's too bad that Jay Leno is the host; he'll probably put a stop to things at the first airing of the word "b****.

Carlin is just not quick enough to match Ann. This is gonna be a shut-out.

He was very funny in the 1960s. I think he used it all up then.
Sorry, I refuse to watch Leno.

I miss the days of Al Sleet, the hippy-dippy weatherman.

Ah, you are an old fogey, too. Remember when he did the "Queen for a Day" spoof?

You watch, that drugged-out POS will have to resort to shouting her down. It's all libs can do against our beautiful Ann Coulter!
To: LibWhacker
that drugged-out POS will have to resort to shouting her down I'm glad Ann never does that. (grin, duck, and run)
Seriously, there is a possibility that they might not appear together on the show. Some people are assuming that, but NBC is not billing it as Carlin vs Coulter.
To: EveningStar
Good point! I hope they don't appear together. I heard Leno likes her and loved the book, thought it was the funniest thing he'd ever read. Why would he want it to get nasty by putting her opposite the least funny sourpuss in showbiz?
To: Bigg Red
Remember when he did the "Queen for a Day" spoof?Afraid that one passed me by, Bigg Red, although I can see where "Queen" would have been a pretty big target for him. How about the sportscaster Biff Barf, biffing up the scores and barfing them right back at you? I call them as I see them, and if I can't see them, I make them up.

Seven statements/phrases Carlin will never permit his lips to release: I am a die-hard Goldwater conservative; the military is the best thing the government does regularly, I realize drugs gave me bad health, hippies are a$$holes, Reagan was one of the greatest Presidents the USA ever had, Bush was awesome after 9-11, and finally, I'm generally a happy-go-lucky person that rarely exhibits nihilistic skepticism.

George Carlin has always been a sterling member of the moral left.
He is a sex, drugs, rock n roll Berkeley in the 1960s clone.
He hates the Christian moral basis for our law and culture and he always has.
Since the far left moral revisionists have taken a wrecking ball to our culture he has seen it will no longer cost him his career to be a godless hippie.
So has found courage, (just like Bill Maher) to reveal what a disgusting twerp he really is and always was. He thinks he is some kind of great thinker and libertarian hero, but he is just another druggie.

In the "Queen for a Day" thing he did the host and some of the contestants. I even remember that one of the constestants was named Tondolaya Breckenridge. His faces and voices were just hysterical and his timing was beyond perfect.

I thought he was really funny in the 60's. I also thought Abbie Hoffman was brilliant, Jane Fonda was naturally thin, Joan Baez was deep, Arlo Guthrie could sing, and David Crosby was cute.
To: small voice in the wilderness
Some people have said Bill Clinton is cute, who can account for bad taste and bad emphasis. Never mind the destructive ideas, power and influence.
