Carlin and Coulter to mix it up on Wednesday's Tonight Show [SCREEN CAPTURES, "LIVE thread" needed]

Carlin and Coulter to mix it up on Wednesday's Tonight Show
George Carlin and Ann Coulter
Either the talent bookers at The Tonight Show are really stupid or they're geniuses. Either of those extremes are the only ways to explain Wednesday's roster of guests: George Carlin, a comic legend who has been doing caustic observational and issues-oreinted comedy, most of it left-leaning, for over forty years, and Ann Coulter, a conservative pundit with a flair for the inflammatory statement. Carlin will be promoting his work in the new Pixar flick Cars; Coulter will be promoting her new book.

Recall that just a few days ago Coulter stated that the World Trade Center widows that pushed for the creation of the 9/11 commission were reveling in their fame, and they're enjoying their husbands' deaths. And Carlin has been spending the last ten years or so telling his comedy audiences that the government is corrupt, religions are idiotic, and that the human race is going to kill itself off (yeah, this hasn't exactly been his funniest period, though I still think he is one of the best stand-up comics ever). So let's just say that the two don't see eye-to-eye on anything. At all.

And the paneling format of The Tonight Show is a perfect environment for some explosive arguments between the two. It's too bad that Jay Leno is the host; he'll probably put a stop to things at the first airing of the word "b****.

FReeper help needed!
A handful of L.A. Chapter members intend to be in the studio audience for today's taping of the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
Our mission is to SUPPORT Ann, and NEUTRALIZE any disruptors. :o)
As you can tell from the timestamp on this thread, however, we will be getting to Burbank VERY EARLY in the morning, and will necessarily be away from our keyboards, and OFFLINE for much of the day.
We would VERY MUCH like to see someone here start a "LIVE thread" to document your impressions about Ann's appearance on the Tonight Show, as well as post MULTIPLE "screen captures" from that show.
THANK YOU in advance, RonDog
We will be posting an "after action" thread with OUR impressions -- and eventually, PHOTOS! -- LATE this evening.

In the FIRST place, I heard somewhere that Ann requested that they NOT appear together on the same stage this evening.

Beyond that, I expect for Ann to duplicate her "charm offensive" from last year's appearance on the "Tonight Show," and show Middle America -- who has only seen the vile parodies of her in the Main Stream Media -- that she truly is a warm, caring person.

left leaning?

Wrong. She didn't say that the WTC widows were reveling in their fame and enjoying their husbands' deaths. She said this about the Jersey Girls only.

btw, that dress that Ann is wearing in that pic looks ridiculous.

EXCELLENT!
That is EXACTLY the kind of BONEHEADED commentary that I expect to see on tonight's "LIVE thread."
SOMEONE has to provide the comic relief! :o)

So true, because Carlin hasn't been funny for a long, long time.

We intend to duplicate LAST YEAR'S success.

From www.satelliteguys.us:

...Even Jay Leno has gone right-wing, judging from the crowd he attracts:
Ann Coulter got more applause than the Pope last night...

So true.

And he USED to be very clever, witty and even PROFOUND, at times!

Can you, or someone else, find text of George Carlin's CLASSIC analysis of the "The Differences between BASEBALL and FOOTBALL" -- and post it on the "LIVE thread" this evening?
That one was INCREDIBLE!

Ask and ye shall receive.

I won't be able to be here for the live thread, so here it is now:

Baseball is different from any other sport, very different. For instance, in most sports you score points or goals; in baseball you score runs. In most sports the ball, or object, is put in play by the offensive team; in baseball the defensive team puts the ball in play, and only the defense is allowed to touch the ball. In fact, in baseball if an offensive player touches the ball intentionally, he's out; sometimes unintentionally, he's out.

Also: in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and all sports played with a ball, you score with the ball and in baseball the ball prevents you from scoring.

In most sports the team is run by a coach; in baseball the team is run by a manager. And only in baseball does the manager or coach wear the same clothing the players do. If you'd ever seen John Madden in his Oakland Raiders uniform, you'd know the reason for this custom.

Now, I've mentioned football. Baseball & football are the two most popular spectator sports in this country. And as such, it seems they ought to be able to tell us something about ourselves and our values.

I enjoy comparing baseball and football:

Baseball is a nineteenth-century pastoral game.
Football is a twentieth-century technological struggle.

Baseball is played on a diamond, in a park. The baseball park!
Football is played on a gridiron, in a stadium, sometimes called Soldier Field or War Memorial Stadium.

Baseball begins in the spring, the season of new life.
Football begins in the fall, when everything's dying.

In football you wear a helmet.
In baseball you wear a cap.

Football is concerned with downs - what down is it?
Baseball is concerned with ups - who's up?

In football you receive a penalty.
In baseball you make an error.

In football the specialist comes in to kick.
In baseball the specialist comes in to relieve somebody.

Football has hitting, clipping, spearing, piling on, personal fouls, late hitting and unnecessary roughness.
Baseball has the sacrifice.

Football is played in any kind of weather: rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog...
In baseball, if it rains, we don't go out to play.

Baseball has the seventh inning stretch.
Football has the two minute warning.

Baseball has no time limit: we don't know when it's gonna end - might have extra innings.
Football is rigidly timed, and it will end even if we've got to go to sudden death.

In baseball, during the game, in the stands, there's kind of a picnic feeling; emotions may run high or low, but there's not too much unpleasantness.
In football, during the game in the stands, you can be sure that at least twenty-seven times you're capable of taking the life of a fellow human being.

And finally, the objectives of the two games are completely different:

In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.

In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! - I hope I'll be safe at home!

As per the dress--I am sure Ann's long sleeves were titanium-lined in case Carlin started Knawing half way through the give and take.

Carelin is suffiently left-leaning as to be "over the cliff lemming left.
