Today our courageous and intrepid Commander in Chief and Leader of the Free World......a world freer because of his courage and leadership, made a surprise visit to Baghdad. It was his second visit to Iraq, the first being made at Thanksgiving in 2003, and not announced until he had already departed Iraq. This trip was different. Air Force One landed at Baghdad airport and the President with a handful of reporters, and his Press Secretary, Tony Snow took a Black Hawk helicopter into the Green Zone.
He met with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who was informed only shortly before the Presidential visit, and they met together with the newly formed Iraqi Cabinet in a video conference with the President's Cabinet who were gathered at Camp David, Maryland in a remarkable moment in history. He also met with Iraq's President Jalal Talabani during a private meeting to discuss Iraq at the U.S. Embassy.
The President then spoke to military personnel and Embassy personnel at the U.S. Embassy, thanking the troops, and giving a moving speech about the noble mission in Iraq. He was deeply emotional as he discussed their sacrifice and their accomplishment, and the pride that Americans have in them, as well as the amazing progress in the newly sovereign Iraq.
First Lady Laura appeared today at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum while her husband was 'away.' She spoke there of her pride in her husband. She also appeared at a fundraiser for New Jersey's Tom Kean.
Here are the President's comments during video conference
And here are the pool reports from Drudge...........some good reads...............right HERE
The President is, as I type this, on his way home. Dear Lord, please continue to protect our brave, strong President as he leads this nation through perilous times. Keep him close to Your side, we pray!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose. It has NEVER been a better day to be a BUSHBOT!!
So much good news today (not necessarily showing up so much on the news - lol).
FR is Awesome!
You're welcome.
I am proud and HONORED to fight, shoulder to shoulder with you, for this president against the naysayers, trolls, and disruptors. And yes, this president IS worth fighting for! :-)
Yes, FR on a good day is awesome. There have been days...LOL.
Actually, I have been honored to meet incredible people here. It makes me proud to be a conservative...most of the time.
That's great! :-)
Yep, I've been waiting for this thread! Yeehaawwww!
Thank you, too, anonymoussierra! Your support means so much.
This is thrilling and sweet. Having the President beam into Baghdad again. Having the US Embassy in Saddam's former Oil for Palaces hangout (PWNED!). Having the two cabinets teleconferencing. Having the Minister of Defense asking the important question.
God bless 'em all.
alnick's post #376 definitely deserves a repost:
You know, looking at those pics of our service men and women apparently thrilled to be with their CIC, I can't help but think about the poll numbers touted by Old Media and the citizens swayed by the fake "news." All one need do is look at how loved President Bush is by the very people who are laying their lives on the line on his orders to understand that something is not right in those "news" stories.
And a BRAVO BUMP
I took a week to do mine. I wanted to make sure I said everything exactly right so I kept changing it around.
I wish we could give this wonderful man a third term. If any president ever deserved it, our Dubya does.
Glorious day, glorious dose, ohioWfan!
Of all days to be traveling and unplugged! Thank goodness, I knew just where to go to get the best pics and all the scoop when I got wired - Sanity Island!
Pardon me while I gush, but isn't W just the greatest?
Thanks ohioWfan! Cheers -
Dinah
Might do it first thing in the morn.
Hello--how's your dad? Nice to see you too! :-)
It IS good news about the job! I really hate to say it but the "other" nurse deserved to be fired.
Good night, Snugs. Thank you so much for all your efforts today. You really amaze me! What an exciting day--and all the more fun for sharing it with others who are so excited. Sweet dreams (but not the fattening kind)!
Great to talk to and see you too!
Wonderful pictures. Thanks, OhioWfan.
Watching FNC when President Bush addressed the troops was awesome.
Thanks again for posting these wonderful pictures.
Great reads DrDeb, Thank you so much!
I definitely agree... but he deserves a good rest even more.
The way he has been treated the last year why would he want to??? And by his own base too, which is a disgrace!!!!!
How very appropriate that you should have the honor of posting this very special Dose thread today. Love the enthusiasm and prayerful words that you always bring to us. It was an amazing day. Thanks, Ohio.
