Today our courageous and intrepid Commander in Chief and Leader of the Free World......a world freer because of his courage and leadership, made a surprise visit to Baghdad. It was his second visit to Iraq, the first being made at Thanksgiving in 2003, and not announced until he had already departed Iraq. This trip was different. Air Force One landed at Baghdad airport and the President with a handful of reporters, and his Press Secretary, Tony Snow took a Black Hawk helicopter into the Green Zone.
He met with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who was informed only shortly before the Presidential visit, and they met together with the newly formed Iraqi Cabinet in a video conference with the President's Cabinet who were gathered at Camp David, Maryland in a remarkable moment in history. He also met with Iraq's President Jalal Talabani during a private meeting to discuss Iraq at the U.S. Embassy.
The President then spoke to military personnel and Embassy personnel at the U.S. Embassy, thanking the troops, and giving a moving speech about the noble mission in Iraq. He was deeply emotional as he discussed their sacrifice and their accomplishment, and the pride that Americans have in them, as well as the amazing progress in the newly sovereign Iraq.
First Lady Laura appeared today at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum while her husband was 'away.' She spoke there of her pride in her husband. She also appeared at a fundraiser for New Jersey's Tom Kean.
Here are the President's comments during video conference
And here are the pool reports from Drudge...........some good reads...............right HERE
The President is, as I type this, on his way home. Dear Lord, please continue to protect our brave, strong President as he leads this nation through perilous times. Keep him close to Your side, we pray!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose. It has NEVER been a better day to be a BUSHBOT!!
It isn't often that we come upon someone who values the President and can do something to promote his cause. Eric Draper is a jewel, and I hope he receives the reward he richly deserves.
"bots" should share award......
that's REALLY nice!! Bushbots are the best!
"I think Steven's health is still good. I commend him for staying in such great shape for his age."
true, but too bad his decisions are so whacky .. he's part of the lib wing of the court with an occasional sop to the conservatives. I wouldn't mind seeing W put in another Roberts or ALito to replace him .. and you KNOW Ginsberg will hang in till her last breath or the next Demo president.
My district is north of San Francisco - we too have Boxer & Feinstein - along with moonbat Woolsey who gave Sheehan the tickets to the State of the Union address. Of course from SF we get Pelosi.
The Wicked Witches of the West.
Screen cap by TomGuy...........note comment at the bottom....
"We stand by you" is giving me goosebumps!
He will be remebered as "The Greatest President".
God Bless GWB and God Bless America.
I might should have added a qualifier stating, "I'm glad he kept his body in such good shape. Sadly his mind didn't keep up."
Hey Ohio, NBC just can't stand it. They call this political theater.
Watching FOX early AM when this was just breaking.
couldn't leave until I watched the speech to the troops.
WooHoo!
Thanks for the ping!
It's threads such as this one, that puts the LIE to the fact that FR's borderbots are in supremacy. Yes, there appear to be a lot of them, but, most people stay as far away from those threads and THEM, as is humanly possible....even when it means they no longer bother to come to FR anymore. The borderbots have turned FR into a close clone of DU; NOT something most of want FR to be like and the antithesis of what the owner of FR wants for this site.
His historic visit to a free Iraq not only speaks volumes for his bravery as he travels fearlessly to a liberated, though still conflict-ridden hotspot, it is a great big "in your face" to all the naysayers who attribute his low poll results to failure in Iraq. To them, freedom in Iraq is worth less than three dollars per gallon. Dubya constantly reminds the world it is priceless. He was just a bit louder today.
A few weeks ago, someone suggested writing letters to Dubya praising him for his excellent and steadfast leadership. I sent mine off. Anyone who hasn't already done so should definitely take the opportunity with this occasion. Dubya tells America he loves her everyday. The least we could do is express our love for him.
This is a great day for a greater man.
right in Saddams FAVORITE palace!!!....amazing!
@@@@
Just imagine what al-Maliki must have been feeling today! To be in that palace as the Head of the Iraq govt and meeting the Head of the US govt. It's a wonder his knees did not buckle.
