Today our courageous and intrepid Commander in Chief and Leader of the Free World......a world freer because of his courage and leadership, made a surprise visit to Baghdad. It was his second visit to Iraq, the first being made at Thanksgiving in 2003, and not announced until he had already departed Iraq. This trip was different. Air Force One landed at Baghdad airport and the President with a handful of reporters, and his Press Secretary, Tony Snow took a Black Hawk helicopter into the Green Zone.
He met with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who was informed only shortly before the Presidential visit, and they met together with the newly formed Iraqi Cabinet in a video conference with the President's Cabinet who were gathered at Camp David, Maryland in a remarkable moment in history. He also met with Iraq's President Jalal Talabani during a private meeting to discuss Iraq at the U.S. Embassy.
The President then spoke to military personnel and Embassy personnel at the U.S. Embassy, thanking the troops, and giving a moving speech about the noble mission in Iraq. He was deeply emotional as he discussed their sacrifice and their accomplishment, and the pride that Americans have in them, as well as the amazing progress in the newly sovereign Iraq.
First Lady Laura appeared today at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum while her husband was 'away.' She spoke there of her pride in her husband. She also appeared at a fundraiser for New Jersey's Tom Kean.
Here are the President's comments during video conference
And here are the pool reports from Drudge...........some good reads...............right HERE
The President is, as I type this, on his way home. Dear Lord, please continue to protect our brave, strong President as he leads this nation through perilous times. Keep him close to Your side, we pray!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose. It has NEVER been a better day to be a BUSHBOT!!
More evidence that the MSM has done a grave disservice to our nation by reporting on the President as if he is not a human being.
He is very much a human being, and loves his country and its citizens dearly.
Which one's POTUS-44?
My message to Iraq is: "Seize the moment....and when America gives it's commitment, we will keep that commitment".
Words fail me, but goose bumps do not.
I love Rummy's THUMBS UP! :-)
Some posters live to attack. I'm sorry they gave you a bad time. They are trolls even though they think they're not. :)
My money is definitely on Ginsburg. I think Steven's health is still good.
I commend him for staying in such great shape for his age.
LOL. Smart man.
Thanks for the pic you posted! YES! VP looks happy too and deservedly so!
You're most welcome, my dear ETOM.
What a beautiful assembly of photos and words.
Great job Ohio!
Superb commander Dubya!
He sure looks like he's having fun. It's a great day to be a Bushbabe.
Definitely, it's great to see this.
Nothing, though, can top President Bush's Thanksgiving trip to Iraq. Still get goosebumps thinking about how it felt to watch that on TV and the way the soldiers and everybody reacted when he came from behind the curtain!
Oh boy, you said a mouthful. They're all on the NJ locale, giving Kean a trouncing that is only exceeded by what DU-types on FR have reserved for GWB.
All I know is, I've lived in NJ for 30 years and have yet to have a Republican senator... even a RINO one, which at least would contribute to the "R" majority in the senate.
They're evil.
There is NO doubt about it.
Could I have a copy please
President Bush visits Iraq ping.
Grok, WCG? Do either of you have a mini-Nascar ping list ping handy?
F'ar at will. Thanks! :-)
Hello snugs. Seeing you on the board always makes me heart happy.
Welcome to the dose hope you become a regular
I was born and raised in NJ. Don't remember the NJ politicans from my childhood and youth, but am certain they were all Dims. It's been a Dim state as long as I can remember.
