Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims “little Eichmanns,” should be fired because of “repeated and deliberate” infractions of scholarship rules, a University of Colorado committee said today.
The recommendation, which came on a 6-3 vote, now goes to university officials for a final decision.

Three university officials still have to make the final decision, but it'll be unusual to go against the committee's recommendations.

"What took so long?"...and WTF were the three that voted against dismissal thinking??

I'm a little surprised, hope university officials go along with the recommendations.

What took so long? He's a liberal professor. Had he been a conservative professor accused of the same charges - this would have taken 5 minutes.

Was the committee thanked for their opinion and told to go [have sex with] themselves?

Be patient. This is just the beginning. By the time you're too old to sit up, they'll actually fire him.

They still got him and did the right thing.
Now we all have to make sure he NEVER finds work again as a "professor".

Churchill lacks that one special quality that would absolutely guarantee his firing - being a conservative. Lacking that, I fully expect Churchill to retain his position.
It is such a pity that students caught plagiarizing are subject to immediate expulsion while professors are not. Go figure.

"Now we all have to make sure he NEVER finds work again as a "professor"."
Unfortunately his firing is just the sort of "badge of martyrdom" that is likely to IMPROVE his chances of getting hired on somewhere, although maybe not as a tenured professor. Evergreen State, perhaps?
