can't believe no one posted this yet. a very interesting exchange of FNC host Julie Banderas and guest Shirley Phelps-Roper screaming at each other: You have to see this video to believe it...
I just expect she was preaching to the choir (which is ok). I don't have a problem with what she did, but I bet she didn't convince anyone of anything. On the other hand, how many people actually agree with Phelps anyway??
susie
"Why do you assume both can't be criticized?"
I agree!
This church should not be desecrating American soldiers funerals, and using angry, coarse language to denounce America's moral failings in a way that suggests that God has already pronounces Hell as as America's judgment.
On the other hand, as we look at our moral problems in America's culture, we who denounce the Westboro church clan for their stridency, should not presume that God will forever hold back his discipline upon our nation. Such judgments may very well start in the churches of God first and spread from there.
So it seems to me two truths are being communicated here, our nation may very well be judged but so may its churches as well, based on their Christlikeness, or "lack there-of"!
The tares may indeed grow in the same soil as the wheat, and it may be harvest before the wheat is separated from the tares....but until such a harvest, both wheat and tares get the same sun and rain...and both suffer when the locusts come!
Phelps-Roper needs an a$$-kicking.
I watched some of the tape. Banderas picked the fight. She was the one who escalated with invective and rage. Phelps is a kook, but Banderas picked the fight. Cheap, self-righteous jerk.
Righteous indignation perhaps, but hardly warranting the invective you employ. The whole idea of protesting the funerals who died for their country is so repugnant as to cause the most sedate among us to perhaps try to point out that such a stunt is rooted in hate. If speaking the truth is picking a fight, I guess she's guilty.
I don't think that Banderas is all that conservative. I can remember when she had a guest on her show a few months back who said that Brokeback Mountain was a piece of trash, and her reply to that was "it's a wonderful story and it's not trash". I don't know too many conservatives with that viewpoint, but then again, I could be wrong.
I have no idea either. But, she was spot on with the one person in the world who makes Helen Thomas look good. (Well thats a stretch but you get teh idea).
The woman from this so-called "church" appears to be full of hate, bitterness and vengeance. Her words are detestable and nauseating. What she and others like her are doing at these military funerals is unconscionable. That being said, I think that Ms. Banderas (Julie Bidwell) could have conducted herself in a slightly more controlled manner during her interview. All she needed to have done was to let this woman blather on all by herself instead of getting in this screaming match with her. Hearing the two of them throwing accusations of "you're hellbound" at one another seemed so unprofessional and silly.
That's the ugliest woman I've ever seen in my life. She makes Helen Thomas look hot.
"The Westboro woman's ideas are as repellent as her face."
Its not her face that repellent, its her heart.
"I don't think becoming emotional and screaming is the most effective way of disarming and dissembling."
She came across as very passionate to me.
Don't sell that face short. She is uggggggly.
Saw it. She lowered herself to the level of the fag-hag.
Not very professional, IMHO.
She's ugly in the heart which makes her ugly in appearance.
No, it's her face, too.
Some of us just aren't so superficial.
Now THAT was a bitch slap! :-)
That was a crazy shouting match they had going on. It's nice that Banderas tried to call out the woman from the Westboro Baptist...better then just letting her act like any old guest.
Gotta love that spark Banderas has :)
